“Do Aur Do Paanch” (1980) was produced by C Dhandyadupani and directed by Rakesh Kumar. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Parveen Babi, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Shreeram Lagoo, Om Prakash, Kader Khan etc in it.
From the starcast, it is obvious that the movie was a multi starrer as most big budget movies of those days tended to be. But while I liked quite a few multistarrer movies of those days, I found this movie to be a big letdown. I strongly felt that the makers of this movie had taken their audience for granted and thought that the movie goers would lap up anything as long as they get to see their stars on the big screen.
Personally I did not like the movie. If I recall correctly, it was one of the rare Amitabh Bachchan movies that I left halfway at interval. The other such movie that I left halfway was “Besharam”.
Since I disliked the movie, I did not like the music of the movie either.
Now, more than three decades later, I am relenting and I am grudgingly admitting that the music of “Do Aur Do Paanch” (1980) was nice and I should not mix the music of this movie with the storyline of the movie. The story line was bad, but why should I dislike the music of the movie for that reason.
Here is the first song from “Do aur Do Paanch” (1980) to make it to the blog. This song is a sentimental song which is sung by Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on a sombre looking Shashi Kapoor. Anjaan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Rajesh Roshan.
A lovely song indeed. In fact, music of this movie were its sole saving grace, as far as I was concerned.

The well known song from this movie is “Toone Abhi Dekha Nahin” sung by Kishore Kumar :). I guess the movie has totally 6 songs, so 5 more to go :).

Yes Atul ji, though the film and its story was not good, the music was good.
Now, i think, you should give one more chance to watch the movie complete after so many years 🙂
