Mewa ghareebon ka tere mere naseebon ka

Posted on: September 23, 2013

“Paisa Ya Pyaar” (1969) was produced by A Veerappan and directed by Jawar N Sitaramanfor Gemini Pictures. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Shashikala, Mala Sinha, Biswjeet, Tanuja, Gajanan Jagirdar, Ashim Kumar, Abhimanyu Sharma, Gopalkrishnan, Sharad Kumar, Lalita Kumari, Sarita Devi, Praveen Paul, VijayBanoo, Sitara Devi etc in it.

Today (23 september 2013) is the 70th birth anniversary of Tanuja (DOB 23 september 1943). On this occasion, here is a song from “Paisa Ya Pyaar” (1969). This song is one that I had heard a few times but I was not aware about its details and then I forgot all about this song.

This song was one of the two “ber” songs that I heard those days. Both these “ber” songs had been forgotten with time. The other “ber” song, viz “na na na na meri beri ke ber mat todo” from “Anokhi Raat” (1968) earned a fresh lease of life thanks to the remix versions of this song.

The ber song of “Paisa Ya Pyaar”, like the “Ber” song of “Anokhi Raat” (1968) is sung by Asha Bhonsle. In “Paisa Ya Pyaar” (1969) song is picturised on Tanuja. The song is picturised on actual locations of Bombay (now Mumbai). A goot portion of the picturisation takes place at the Gateway of India and one can notice that the area around the Gateway of India was quite uncluttered and free of structures that one finds today in its vicinity. Those were the days.

The light hearted lyrics of this song were written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Music is composed by Ravi.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

this is a song from “Panama Pashama”
roughly translating to “Paisa Ya Pyar” (1968) the actress in the song is Vijaya Nirmala, Music: . K.V.Mahadevan. Lyrics: Kannadasan. L.R. Eswari is the singer.
the mukhdas are direct translation of each other. with very marginal difference in the idea of the antaras.

I was about to write that “Ithu Sekka Sevanta Pazham” is this very song in Tamil but Peeveesie’s Mom beat me to the post!!!

So true, I was going to say the same thing too.. this was L R Eswari’s name to fame. Even today, when she is interviewed, performs on stage.. invariably she is asked to sing this song. Amazing number. Thanks for posting the Hindi version of this Atul Ji.

I see that each language has its own set of such nice numbers back then in the golden period. It might be a good idea to start a similar blog for old tamil songs, especially when there are so many here on this blog who are aware of old tamil movie numbers and appreciate them. What do you think? :).
