Today is a new year day viz. 1 january 2014. Just another day as far as most creatures in the world are concerned, but an important day for human beings who believe this day to be different from others. 😉

This is the day when people will greet each other and wish them happy new year. This will be the main activity in all offices, schools, colleges etc today.

On this day, people also make new year resolutions. It is another matter that most of these new resolutions do not last for more than a few days. 🙂

As always, I will have no resolutions except that I will try and maintain the momentum that this blog has gained over a period of time. The blog activities have slowed down a bit over the last few weeks and I was unable to maintain the usual rate of six songs a day for the blog during this period.

Hopefully that period of slowdown is behind us. We expect lots of good things to happen in the coming year not only in the blog but also elsewhere, viz in the country as well as in the world.

On the occasion of the new year of 2014, here is a song from “Sindoor” (1947). Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past and this rare song is the sixth song from the movie to appear in the blog.

“Sindoor” (1947) is a rare and obscure movie and details about this movie are not available anywhere else on internet. Thankfully, we have Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our own beloved inhouse encyclopaedia. So when I needed to find the details about “Sindoor” (1947), all I had to do was to search for the old posts on this movie.

Here is the information that Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh had shared with us about this movie :-

SINDOOR(1947),a Filmistan production was produced, directed, acted by Kishore Sahu. Not only this he also wrote the story, dialogues and one song in it. Additionally, he has sung also a song in it !
The Hero was Kishore Sahu. The Heroine was Shamim and the cast cosisted of Gulab, Sushil Sahu, Ramesh Gupta, Rajendra, Pratima Devi, Paro, Moni Chatterjee and others.
This film was released on 1-1-1947.
This was a revolutionary movie in those days, as it tackled the issue of re-marriage of widows.
The story revolves round the family of a wellknown cotractor of Lucknow Shiv Prasad Tiwari. He lives with his mother(dadi ma),second wife(maaji),elder son Beni and younger son Ratan. His daughter is already married and away.
One of their distant relations Mausi lives in Tulsighat with her young widow daughter and her small child.
Shiv prasad brings the widow- Meera (Shameem) and her child to Lucknow, where his elder son Beni (Kishor Sahu) loves and wants to marry her.
The entire film is full of melodramatic scenes with final happy outcome after a long speech by ShivPrasad. Sushil Sahu(real brother of Kishore Sahu) plays the role of the spoiled step brother Ratan’s role in the film.
Khemchand Prakash used several (now) less known singers in this movie, like Sushil Sahu, Paro, Naseem Akhter, S.L.Puri, Kishore Sahu and Moti in 3 songs.

On the occasion of the new year, here is a rare song from “Sindoor” (1947) a movie that was released on the new year of 1947 !

Myswar informs us that this song is sung by Sushil Sahu. On listening to this song, it is clear that the song has a female voice too. On comparing this voice with the female voice of other songs, it appears to me that this female voice belongs to Naseem Akhtar, who had also sung another duet with Sushil Sahu in the movie that has been discussed in the past. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the singers of this song as well as on its picturisation. Sushir Sahu ofcourse sings for himself. It is the female lip syncer that I have not been able to guess so far.

So here is the sixth song from “Sindoor” (1947) in the blog. It is sung by Naseem Akhtar and Sushil Sahu. Neelkanth Tiwari is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.

I’m not hearing Naseem Akhtar’s voice in this song, but rather it almost sounds like there are two female singers throughout, not counting the chorus. Perhaps one of them is Paro Devi, who sang in this film, too.
