Nainon se naina milaa ke : Song No. 10

Here we are at the tenth and final song of the series ‘Nainon se naina milaa ke ‘. When I started this series, I had just three songs with similar mukhda’s one of which is the tenth song. The duet from ‘ Shahkaar ‘ and Geeta Roy solo from ‘Hamaari Manzil’ were the other two. So I had thought of keeping it short and sweet with these three songs.
Once I got the brainwave of looking in Rafi Excelsheet 🙂 , one song led to another and so on. One song was suggested and provided by Sudhir Kapoor Sir. Thus the series has 10 songs featuring 11 singers, Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Khurshid, Snehprabha Pradhan, Paresh Banerjee, Asha Bhosle, Nirmala Devi, Binapani Mukherjee, Jagjit Kaur, Usha Timothy and Raj Kumari. There are three solos, two by Geeta Dutt and one by Khurshid. Seven duets, six of them sung by Mohammed Rafi with 6 different singers.
One more surprising fact is these 10 songs have 11 different lyricist and 11 music director. Here is the list of these 10 song posts:

Some details of film ‘Beti’, from the HFGK :
Produced under the banner of Ranjit Movietone, the film is directed by Jayant Desai. The cast of actors includes Khurshid, Vasanti, Arun, E Billimoria, Ghori, Keshari, Khatoon, Bhagwan Das, Nagendra, Bhoopat Rai, Sharma, Reva Shankar. The film has a total of 14 songs. Khursheed has sung eight of the fourteen songs, both solos and duets. Music is by Gyan Dutt. As per Geet Kosh, the songs are written by DN Madhok and Buta Ram Sharma. However specific identification of which song by which poet is not indicated.
Myswar.com is crediting D. N. Madhok as the lyricist of this song. One song from the film ‘ Beti ‘ (1941) is posted here .
The lyrics are courtesy Sudhir Kapoor Sir. I had made a start on them and then he mailed me the corrected lyrics in english along with the hindi lyrics. I am grateful to him for all his help.
This solo song is a real beauty belonging to the beginning of the Golden era of hindi film songs. So saving best for the last seemed like a good idea. This is also the oldest song to be presented by me in the blog.

Nitin Shah ji,
Thanks for the collection of songs, most of them are real gems. I specially liked the Lata songs , S. Janaki and Shamshad Begum songs.
However, if I may say, the theme of the series is not ‘naina’ in general terms, but specifically ‘ Nainon se naina milaa ke ‘ . If you look carefully at the 10 songs listed in the post, they all speak of basically the theme.
And I am very much aware that any theme, can be generalized to a certain extent. As song no. 7 in my posts is a bit away from the theme. Same thing can be applied to the words like ‘aankhen’, ‘nazar’ ‘nigaahen’ which mean the same as ‘nain’ .
Among the 14 songs, provided by you, I have made a selection of 4 songs, and will continue the series for at least 5 songs.

Nahm ji – the song from ‘Jhoom utthha Aaakash’ -nadiya kinaare nain hamaare’ is already with Atul ji. I had sent the same on 15.06.13 while sharing other songs from this film.
Kindly include the same in your series please.

The song form “Jaag uthha insaan’ is not fitting in the theme. I have no problem as such writing a post on any inspiring song. But the post in the series are related to ‘nainon se naina mila ke” .
Both you and Nitin Shah ji have sent the song lyrics. I think Atul ji will post it due course.

Thanks, i thought that only upto sr.no.09 songs’ lyrics have been shared by Shah Saheb.
BTW the film name is ‘Jhoom Uthhaa Aakash’ and not ‘Jaag Uthha Insaan’ 🙂
But, please check the other one from TEER-1954 (UR), it might be suitable for the series ‘nainon se naina..’.

Unfortunately, I am done with the series, the above being 10th and final post. May be you would consider doing a series on those songs.
