Getting on with Rafi Sb and the 1970s, here is this delightful duet from the year 1974. The film is ‘Insaaniyat’. Singing voices are Rafi Sb and Suman Kalyanpur. The song is created by the team of Hasrat Jaipuri and Shankar Jaikishan.
The lead pair performing the song is Shashi Kapoor and Saira BanuMadhu. Shashi Kapoor used to carry the dubious distinction of being the busiest actor in those years. It is said that after the success of his films in the second part of 1960s, he got more offers than one could imagine. He did not refuse even one of them, and signed on the dotted line of every contract that came his way. He had enough pictures to keep him busy for a decade. The year is 1974, and Saira Banu has been married to Yusuf Khan i.e. Dilip Kumar for eight years now. And she is four years away from her retirement from films. The intimate expressions, especially in a swimming pool – makes one wonder, a little bit.
And the music director Shankar – he has been without his alter ego Jaikishan, for about three years. Jaikishan passed away in 1971. Shankar is trying hard to regain the lost magic, as well as the lost banners.
Another very vigorous composition made for the audience of 1970s – catchy and hummable.

Please make the correction. I think the heroine was Madhoo & not Saira banu, as mentioned. Madhoo hardly acted in a couple of movies!

I had the same doubt towards the end of the song that it was not Saira Bano, then I see the comments and so many noticed it too :).

Lovely song, Sudhir Ji. Great work is being done by you with this series “Rafi in 70s”. This was the period when Rafi doubted himself and even thought of quitting (as mentioned by Naushad), but all the while providing his fans and HFM lovely songs, some even better than those of his from earlier decades.
