“Grihasthi”(1963) was directed by Kishore Sahu for Gemini Chitra,Madras. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Nitrupa Roy, Rajshree, Indrani Mukherji, Sudesh Kumar, Lalita Pawar, Bipin Gupta, Jageerdaar, Ifthikhar, Kanhaiyalal, Niranjan Sharma, Achla Sachdev, Pushpavalli, Bhatri Malvankar, Mehmood, Shubha Khote etc in it.

As many as six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from “Grihasthi”(1963) to appear in the song. This song is a background song that is sung by Rafi. This song, an ode to women, is penned by Shakeel Badayuni. Ravi is the lyricist. The picturisation shows Nirupa Roy (playing an adarsh Bhartiya Naari) getting married to Ashok Kumar. By the end of the song, they are seen leaving by a ship.

The video version is two stanza song where as the audio version has an additional stanza. I have provided links for both video and audio versions of the song.

Song-Wo aurat hai jo insaanon ki oonchi shaan karti hai (Grihasthi)(1963) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ravi

Lyrics

wo aurat hai jo insaanon ki oonchi shaan karti hai
zaroorat ho to apna pyaar bhi kurbaan karti hai
agar sansaar mein aurat na hoti
to insaanon ki ye izzat na hoti
agar sansaar mein aurat na hoti
to insaanon ki ye izzat na hoti

jahaan waale ne duniya ko racha ke
anokha maan duniya ko diya hai
magar aurat ki hasti ko bana ke
khud apne naam ko ooncha kiya hai
agar aurat ko wo paida na karta
mohabbat ki koi keemat na hoti
agar sansaar mein aurat na hoti
to insaanon ki ye izzat na hoti

kahin maata ka le kar roop usne
bade hi pyaar se bachchon ko paala
kahin poatni ka le kar roop usne
kiya hai ghar ki duniya mein ujaala
grihasthi hai isi ke dam se warna
gharon ki zindagi jannat na hoti
agar sansaar mein aurat na hoti
to insaanon ki ye izzat na hoti
agar sansaar mein aurat na hoti
to insaanon ki ye izzat na hoti
