some people may think that this article is discussing the song “betaab nazar bechain jigar” from “Yaasmeen” (1955). No, that song was covered in the blog in 2008 itself. This song, like the “Yaasmeen” (1955) song, is also sung by Talat Mehmood. But this song is from a movie called “Behram Daaku”(1959).
Unlike “Yaasmeen”(1955), “Behram Daaku”(1959) is a rare movie with obscure songs. This movie was directed by Akkoo for Afzal Films, Bombay. The movie had Manhar Desai, Chitra, Sheikh, Ashraf Khan, Habib, Tuntun, Shyam Kumar, Raj Adib, Menka Kumari, Daraj, Sharda, Babulal, Ranjana etc in it.
The movie had seven songs in it that were sung by five singers and were penned by three lyricists.
Here is the first song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song, as mentioned earlier, is sung by Talat Mehmood. This song is aas good to listen to, if not better than the somewhat similarly worded song from ‘Yaasmeen”(1955). It must be regarded as a forgotten gem from a forgotten movie.
Saba Afghani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sadat.
