Welcome all to this post that I am presenting here to wish ‘happy birthday’ today to a very special person Maqsood Mehmood Ali better known to us as Lucky Ali.
He was born on 19th September 1958 and that means he turned sixty-four today.
He sung his first Hindi movie song in the 1978 movie ‘Ek Baap Chhe Bete’ which was produced and directed by his father – the famous comedian – Mehmood.
He must have been 18-19 years old at that time.
Later in the 1990s he emerged as a ‘significant figure’ in the world of ‘Indipop’ with several singles and albums. I was posted at Phulpur-Allahabad then. I had also bought his albums and liked the numbers in it very much.
Lucky Ali has also done acting in few movies e.g., ‘Kaante’, ‘Sur’ etc.
I would also like to reproduce here what ‘Wikipedia’ has mentioned about him
“Best known for his music, singing, and acting, Ali has also bred horses, worked on an oil rig off the coast of Pondicherry in South India, cleaned and sold carpets and is a farmer with a strong opinion on organic methods in farming.”
Lucky Ali has a long musical journey, and we will surely be discovering more about him in future posts on the blog.
Recently I watched one of his videos on YouTube produced by Curly Tales. In this video he was shown in his farmhouse and many other locations in Bengaluru especially the many famous food spots and just in his very natural ‘avtaar’. I liked this video very much and I simply loved it.
He has carved a special niche for himself in the heart of music lovers, and we all love him very much.
Lucky Ali has troubled relationship with his father Mehmood in his childhood. Mehmood was a very busy actor then and couldn’t give much of his time for his family. Lucky Ali had to live in Board School in Mussoorie for his studies.
Later he became addicted of ‘marijuana’ too. His fight with ‘Marijuana’ led Mehmood to present this issue in this movie ‘Dushman Duniya Ka’ where is his youngest son Manzoor Ali played the lead role.
As mentioned in ‘Wikipedia’ Lucky Ali didn’t like the story of this movie as it lacked hope, since the actor or the drug-addicted young son kills his mother in the movie.
Today on his birthday I am presenting a song from the 1996 movie ‘Dushman Duniya Ka’.
Lucky Ali sang a song in this movie which was lip-synced on screen by his younger brother Manzoor Ali. The song is about ‘nashaa’.
‘Dushman Duniya Ka-1996’ was directed by Mehmood. It was produced by Ashok Mishra, Babubhai and Masoom Ali. It had Jeetendra, Sumalatha, Manzoor Ali (debut movie), and Mehmood. This movie also introduced Laila, Master Abhishek, and Nasir. They were supported by Ali Asgar, Wahid, Kailash, Punjabi, Anil Mehta, Fardeen, Gopal, Meghani, Neeraj Mishra, Salman, Raju Malhotra, Zaid Khan, Vishwanath, Krishna Bansal, Sweety Pareeikh, Baby Somaiya and Shweta.
Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan had a special appearance in this movie. Ashok Kumar, Farida Jalal, Anjana Mumtaz, Rita Bhaduri, Raza Murad, Manmauji, Birbal, Liliput, Junior Mehmood and Johny Level had a friendly appearance in this movie.
This movie was written by Late Aziz Quaisi and Editing of this movie was done by S. Heera.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 30.08.1996 with ‘restricted viewing certificate’ (A).
This movie had seven songs of which the lyrics were written by Ravindra Jain. Music was composed by Anu Malik.
Let us now enjoy today’s song and wish a ‘very happy birthday’ to Lucky Ali and thank him for all the musical memories he has given to us and his songs (he is also a songwriter) which have a therapeutic effect on our mind and souls.
