Today 09th May’2023 is the ‘twenty-fifth’ ‘Remembrance Anniversary of the legendary singer and actor Talat Mahmood.
He was born on 24th February’1924 and he passed away on 9th May’1998.
As per this blog statistics Talat Mahmood has sung around 450 songs for Hindi Films.
I am big fan of Talat Mahmood and today as a tribute to him I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Ghamand-1955’ which is a solo song sung by Talat Mahmood.
The today’s song is the only song that Talat Mahmood has sung for this movie ‘Ghamand-1955’.
“Ghamand-1955” was directed by Deepak Asha for ‘Kirtan Pictures, Bombay’. It was produced by Rijhumal Sewaram. It had Shyama, Sheela Ramani, Rajkumar, Kamal Mehra, Ramlal, Seeta Bose, Mohini, Manjeet Kumari, Shakeel, Thakur, Ishwar, Bajaj, Jaani, Murad and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 15.01.1955.
“Ghamand-1955” has ten songs which were shared among five lyricist viz. Naqsh (Lyallpuri?), Uddhav Kumar, Kaif, Naazi, P. Ziya(details given below).
Music for this movie was composed by Gulshan Soofi.

This movie seems to be an obscure movie of its time, as no video for the movie or its songs seems to be available on internet.
As mentioned above today I present a song sung by Talat Mahmood from this movie which is written by P. Ziya. (I guess that the lyricist is making his debut on the blog. Knowledgeable readers can throw more light on this. The audio link of ‘saregama’ for this song mentioned the lyricist name as Ziya Sarhadi (?). )
