Today 12th April 2025, which is the tithee Chaitra Poornima, Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated all over. On this occasion here is song from the movie ‘Bajrangbali-1976’. It is one of those movies which I watched during my childhood days. I have vague recollections of watching it with my younger brothers and cousins. I had earlier presented two songs from this movie on the blog. Out of these two songs one song ‘hey manwaa re’ is the song which is pure nostalgia for me and it has been permanently embedded on my impressionable mind since my childhood days.
‘Bajrangbalee-1976’ was a Joy Films, Bombay presentation directed by Chandrakant. It had Dara Singh, Vishwajeet, Moushmi Chatterjee, Premnath, Shahi Kapoor, Mehmood, Bal Dhuri, Randhawa, Shahu Modak, Durga Khote, Sulochana, Sushma, Ulka, Jaya Kaushalya, Asit Sen, Babu Raje, B.M.Vyas, Jagdish Raj, Master Ajay, Master Alankar, Kumar Dighe, Radheshyam, Ramrasila, Ram Mohan, Mukri, Azad, Hercules, Dhanraj, Polson, Moolchand, Krishnakant, Mahesh Bhatt and Sumitra Devi, Jayshree Gadkar, Dulari in Special appearance. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 12.08.1976. ‘Bajrangbalee-1976’ had total eight songs in it (including one three part and one two part song). All songs are penned by Kavi Pradeep and music for this film was composed by Kalyanji-Anand ji. In my earlier posts I had mentioned the number of songs for this movie as eleven which includes the parts of two songs. However in the ‘list of songs-movie wise’ on the blog it is correctly mentioned as eight songs and I stand corrected now.
Today’s song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Aziz Nazaan. Lyrics are by Kavi Pradeep and music is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.
In the movie the song under discussion appears in three parts. The first part of this song is played in the background with titles of this movie. The second part of this song takes place where we have Vishwajeet as ‘Ram’, Moushumi Chatterjee as ‘Seeta’ along with other devotees, rishi munees in the ‘darbaar’. It is here when Hanuman is given the ‘garlands of pearls’ by Maataa Seetaa, and he is shown breaking each ‘motee’ to see the lord Ram and Seeta in it. There we have Raja Shakun (actor Mehmood) asking Hanumaan about this and finally challenging him आज मणियों में सीता राम ढूंढ रहे हो बजरंगबली, कभी अपने शरीर में सीता राम को ढूंढा, that then Raam and Seeta should be inside him. Here Hanumaan opens his chest and shows Raam and Seeta in his heart to all present there. The third part of this song takes place in the movie when Lord Raam and Seeta have already left the mortal world and travelled to the heaven. In heaven they are in the company of other gods and Lord Raam is missing his ‘param bhakt’ Hanuman. It is here that Seeta Maata says that without Hanumaan the Raam Kathhaa would have been nothing. There Naradmunee breaks into singing this part which continues in the background and the movie ends.
I am unable to identify the actor lip-syncing for the voice of Mahendra Kapoor. Actor Mehmood lip-syncs for the voice of Aziz Nazaan. Lyrics are by Kavi Pradeep and music is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.
