“Gopichand”(1958) was produced by Ishwarlal and Prabhudas K Tanna and directed by Ishwarlal for Vasundhara Chitra, Bombay. This mythological movie had Shahu Modak, Shyama, B M Vyas, Prem Adib, Paro, Sundar, Malay Sarkar, Kesari, Salvi, Durga Khote etc in it.
“Gopichand”(1958) had eight songs in it that were very obscure. Two songs from the movie been covered in the blog.
Other songs from the movie have also become available online
Here is the third song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Manna Dey. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Avinash Vyas.
Only audio of the song is available. One can only guess from the lyrics that someone (the hero ?) decides to renounce the world abandoning his mother and wife and becomes a hermit. This song could well be a background song.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics in the last stanza of the song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.
It was on this date six years ago (on 8 May 2020) that our beloved senior music lover Bharat Bhai Upadhyay left for his heavenly abode. His memory and his infectious enthusiasm for music related activities is still fresh in the minds of those who were lucky to have come in contact with him. I take this opportunity to pay our tributes to Bharat Bhai Upadhyay.
