Blog Day :

6524 Post No. : 20296

Let’s move ourselves from the rare Asha Bhosle series a bit and listen to this beautiful song

“Aye Baharon Haal Apna Kya Sunaye Hum” sung sweetly by Lata Mangeshkar. It is written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal for the film “Lagan” (1971).

“Lagan”(1971) was directed by Ramanna for R R K Combines, Madras. The movie had Nutan, Ajay Sahni (viz Parikshat Sahni), Prem Chopra, Farida Jalal, Jagdeep, Bindu, Sulochana, Shabnam, Jayshree T, Nazeer Hussain, Birbal, Dube, Kailash Chopra etc in it.

Two of the six songs have already been posted on the blog. Here’s the third one.

An interesting trivia about this song is that my mother, Smt. Sumati Rajurkar, who was completing her post graduate diploma in Fine Arts, Hyderabad, had gone on a South India trip/excursion with her classmates. They happened to be in the Brindavan Gardens in Mysore on the day that this song was being shot.

She got to meet Prem Chopra and Bindu who even offered them Tea & Biscuits.

Some memory!! Nostalgic! And she is currently in a nursing home here in Melbourne, suffering from Alzheimers and Dementia at the ripe age of ninety. The good thing is that she recognises almost all of us. She often wonders when my grown up boys meet her. She is surprised because she is looking to see their younger selves (when they were 10 & 5).

Alzheimers is a progressive, irreversible brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and cognitive skills. It is the most common cause of Dementia. Unfortunately, there’s no cure for this disorder.

Editor’s note:-

The mother of Satyajit Rajurkar jee watched the picturisation of this song and also got to meet the main actors figuring in this picturisation ! How fortunate and lucky she must have been on that particular day more than 55 years ago. It means that her son, the author of this post, had a remarkable memory associated with this movie in general and this song in particular when he watched this movie.

Memories, especially fond memories of the past, that we call nostalgia, are such an invaluable gift that we as human beings are blessed with. We need to make the most of this gift, and if possible, try to retain this ability as long as one can. I feel that we need to keep using our brain cells proactively rather than passivly. Watching TV is a passive activity that does not exercise our brain cells, whereas our brain cells get exercised when we write an article like this. Hopefully the contributors of this blog will be able to enjoy this gift for a long time even as they grow older.

Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, these are terms that have entered our lexicon during the past few decades. While they cannot be treated as of now, their early diagnosis and management goes a long way in coping with the situation.

We, the members of this blog extend our best wishes to Smt. Sumati Rajurkar, the beloved mother of Satyajit Rajurkar’s jee. She is lucky to have a devoted son like him to take care of her.

Well, coming back to today’s song, it is lip synced by Bindu and Jayshree T with their friends while Prem Chopra is enjoying the song.

Song-Ae bahaaron haal apna kya sunaayen hum (Lagan)(1971) Singer-Lata, Lyricist-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics:

aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa

ae bahaaron haal apna
kya sunaayen hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
dil dhadakta hai jyaada
neend aaye kam
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum

dekhtee hai ghoor ke duniya ye saaree kis liye
kuchh badalne see lagee soorat hamaaree kis liye
dekhtee hai ghoor ke duniya ye saaree kis liye
kuchh badalne see lagee soorat hamaaree kis liye
raat din rahne lagee yeh bekaraaree kis liye
ke baithhe baithhe
lag gaya hum ko na jaane kaun sa yeh gham
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum

aaj honthon pe anokhee see kahaanee aa gayee
hum yehee samjhe thhe yeh to rut suhaanee aa gayee
aaj honthon pe anokhee see kahaanee aa gayee
hum yehee samjhe thhe yeh to rut suhaanee aa gayee
log kahte hain naheen raanee jawaanee aa gayee
ke chalte chalte
paanv mein paayal naheen par hotee hai chham chham
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
ae baharon haal apna kya sunaayen hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum
na jaane kya karega yeh mausam
sharam ke maare
o mar gaye hum

Both the ladies are so lovely! And such distinct dancing style and speed. I always thought that Jayshree T & Meena T were fast dancers who would not do a regular count of 1-2-3-4 in the steps, they may be the types who counted 1-2/3- 4 that was their speed.

And Bindu!! My goodness so good.

Thank for sharing Satyajitji.

Like Atulji has said Best Wishes to your Mother. I still remember the video you had shared of your mother’s singing

I think both dancers are lip-syncing to Lata Mangeshkar. So this can also be put in that category no?
