#Sureelee Suman – Suman Kalyanpur – 28.01.1937 – 31.05.2026) #
Suman Kalyanpur the ‘Sureelee Suman’ of Hindi Film Music, and many regional languages music passed away on 31st May 2026. She was born on 28th January 1937. The news of her passing away came as a shock to music lovers. I got this news first on a WhatsApp group which I did not want to believe. When I checked on internet there was no such news. It was only on the next day that several sources carried this news and this bad news was confirmed.
As a music lover I had been listening to the voice of Suman Kalyanpur from early childhood. After coming into contact with this blog, I got the opportunity to share many of her songs and I enjoyed listening to these songs in the process of preparing their writeups.
I have listened to not just her Hindi songs but also many Marathi songs. Many of them have become part of my growing up days. She has sung more than eight hundred songs in Hindi movies (857 songs according to the statistics page) and 547 of her songs have already been posted on this blog so far. So, we still have more than 300 of her songs lets to be covered here.
I would like to pay my tributes to her by presenting one of her rare and lesser heard song from an un-released movie ‘Phir Bahaar Aayee-1968’. Very little information is available about this movie in Geet Kosh apart from the fact that seven songs are listed for this movie. The director’s name for this movie is not known which was produced under the banner of Fazli Films. Even the cast of this movie is not known.
However, name of the composer is known and it is Kamal Rajasthani. Out of the seven songs, lyricist’s name for two songs is known. They are Naqsh Lyallpuri and Dr Momin Mohiuddin. Lyricists for the remaining five songs are not known. The singers for this movie are Mohd Rafi, Krishna Kalle, Suman Kalyanpur, and Usha Balsawar. I had earlier shared two solo songs. One was in the voice of Mohd Rafi and another song was sung by Suman Kalyanpur.
Today I am presenting the third song from this movie which is in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur.
Lyricist of the song is not known.
Let us now listen to this rarely heard song …Only audio of this is available.
Our Tributes to Suman Kalyanpur jee!

Avinash Ji
Thanks for the post. It is a pleasure to listen to any song from Sureeli Suman. I have not heard this song before. Fairly appealing.
