I am sure you must have heard the names of Music Directors Fakir Muhammed, Shambhoo, Dattaraj, Brij Bhushan, Raj Ratan, Ronodev Mukherjee, Kamalkant and Vishnu Khanna.
No ? I am surprised. OK. At least you must be knowing Music Directors Ajay, Baboo Singh or Vijay Honavar ? Your blank face says, you have never heard their names.
I am not asking you names of Music Directors from the 1930s or 1940s. All these were composers in the 1960s. If I ask you about Satyam, Jagdish or Ratandeep-Hemraj, what will you say ?
These were Music Directors in the 1970s. They composed music for 5 to 15 films each in the 70s.

Mohammed Rafi – The Incomparable – 7

“I’m…fine. I’m just sorry you had to wander under the little black cloud that’s been following me around all day. That’s probably why I nearly ran you over earlier, and why you got stuck with me now.”
Refusing to consider what else could go wrong, she aimed a commendably calm smile at him. If she’d learned anything from her years in advertising, it was that perception was everything. If you appeared in control, everyone thought you were.
“The good news is that it’s me, not you, and that bad days get better.”
“What about bad weeks?”
“Those are the ones that build character.” Or so her grandma said.
“Bad months?” he asked, and watched as her smile made it to her eyes. Something knowing shifted in those doe-brown depths.
“That’s when you need to find something to do that takes you away from your problems for a while. Whatever you’re dealing with won’t go away,” she warned him,“but for that hour or that day, you have taken away its power over you.”

The above is just a portion of some pulp fiction that I keep reading every now and than. When there is nothing good to read, usually after the Sudoku in the newspapers is done and i have read the usual article’s that are readable in the newspaper. Some times these books have these ” nuggets of wisdom ” or some portions where a lot is said like in the above portion. I had copied and saved in the drafts to use for a suitable song some months back, though it has no connection with the song post here.

VINTAGE SHAMSHAD BEGUM…Song No. 10…Last song of the series.
——————————————————————–
Today’s song is from the film Mangala-1950. It is a duet of Shamshad Begum and T.A.Moti. This is also the last song of this series.
In this series, we have heard,so far, 9 duets of Shamshad Begum, from her early films in the 40s. From the first film of hers in Bombay (Taqdeer) to her first film in Madras(Mangala), we have heard duets with 9 different singers, featuring Motilal, Surendra, K S Raagi, Ram Kamlani, Anil Biswas, G M Durani, Sulochana Kadam, Lata and Chitalkar and today is the 10th singer T.A.Moti. I wanted to include her duets with S D Batish, Geeta Dutt, Mohd.Rafi and Surinder Kaur, but it was not possible to accomodate them in this series.
