“Sartaj” (1950) is an obscure movie which was produced by Omar Khayyam (?) and directed by S Khalil. This movie had actors like Motilal, Munawwar Sultana, Cuckoo, Manorama, Ansari, Mirza Musharaf, Shyama, Rattan Bai etc in it.

“Moorti” (1945) was a movie produced by Ranjit Movietone. It was directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi. The movie had Motilal, Khursheed, Padma Banerjee, Yashwant Dube, Kamal Jamindar, Kaneez, Tara Bai etc. in it. Only the first two names in the cast are somewhat familiar. I have little idea about the other actors in the list.

“Daak Bangla” (1947) is a movie produced by an official sounding Production house namely Indian National Pictures Limited. 😀

The movie was directed by M Sadiq and it had actors like Wasti , Suraiyya,Gope,Rampyaari,M Ismail etc. Kamal Kapoor who later went on to have a long career as a baddie in Hindi movies, made his debut in this movie.

“Aadhi Raat” (1950) is a movie which was a Kuldip pictures production. It was directed by S K Ojha. This movie had Ashok Kumar and Nargis in lead roles. But if IMDB is to be believed then Cuckoo, Jeewan and Kuldip Kaur were the stars of this movie. 🙂

“Rattan” (1944) was a movie that was musically a major milestone for Hindi movie music. The music of this movie served as a major trendsetter. The music of this movie was based on folk music, as against classical music. This ensured that movie goers, who were exposed to such music in their day to day life, were able to identify with this kind of music better. And just how well did the public identify with the music ! The music of this movie became super duper hit. Naushad became a rage, and other music directors too jumped on the bandwagon of folk music based songs.
