“Pyaar” (1950), which must easily be the shortest and most generic of all Hindi movie titles, had Raj Kapoor and Nargis in lead roles. and this movie ironically is one of the lesser known movies of this legendary pair.

“Magroor” (1950) is quite a nice and wonderful movie. I became aware of this movie thanks to its review in Memsaab’s blog. I loved this movie.

From late 1950s onwards, we had Helen as the dancing sensation. Before her, we had Cuckoo. In a way, Cuckoo was the fore runner of Helen.

I had not heard of this movie called “Pagle” (1950). This by now obscure movie had actors like Sherry, Jagirdar, Begum Para, Agha Jan, Pratima Devi,Cuckoo etc in it.

When I was young, listening to songs on radio (and specially on Radio Ceylon) was a much looked forward to activity by younsters and grown ups alike. Like always, parents frowned on this activity, because in their opinion, kids should concentrate on their studies, instead of such morally corrupt activities like watching movies and listening to their music. 🙂
