Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Tum dekh rahe ho ke mite saare sahaare

Posted on: June 15, 2011

“Sheesh Mahal” (1950) is a movie whose songs are well represented in this blog. As many as three songs of different genres from this movie have already been discussed.

Here is a song from this movie that I was not aware of. This song is sung by a singer which may not be familiar to too many music lovers (including me). The singer is Pushpa Hans. She has done a great job singing this “remonstrarting with the almighty” genre of song.

I am unable to identify the lady on whom this song is picturised. I rewquest my knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
PS-The actresses is none other than Pushpa Hans herself. I thank Derubala and Arunkumar Deshmukh for this information.

Behzad Lucknowi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vasant Desai.

Song-Tum dekh rahe ho ke mite saare sahaare (Sheesh Mahal) (1950) Singer- Pushpa Hans, Lyrics-Behzad Lucknowi, MD-Vasant Desai

Lyrics

tum dekh rahe ho
ke mite saare sahaare
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare

tum dekh rahe ho
ke mite saare sahaare
tum dekh rahe ho
ke mite saare sahaare
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare

har oar se aafat ne hamen gher liyaa hai
har oar se aafat ne hamen gher liyaa hai
tumne bhi ghazab ye hai ke munh pher liyaa hai
tumne bhi ghazab ye hai ke munh pher liyaa hai
maana ke bure
maana ke bure ham hain
magar hain to tumhaare
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare

ab tum hi bataao ke tumhe kaise jagaayen
ab tum hi bataao ke tumhe kaise jagaayen
aahen bharen ya chup rahen
ya sheesh nawaayen
aahen bharen ya chup rahen
ya sheesh nawaayen
taqdeer ke
taqdeer ke ??
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare

ham tum se ye kahte hain
ham tum se ye kahte hain
na tum hamko bhulaao
saagar mein phanse ham hain
hamen dheer bandhaao
saagar mein phanse ham hain
hamen dheer bandhaao
aisa na ho
aisa na ho ik roz dubo de hamen dhaare
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare
tum dekh rahe ho
ke mite saare sahaare
bhagwaan hamaare
bhagwaan hamaare

I think she is Pushpa Hans ji herself.

Thanks for this information.

I saw this movie a little over a year ago and liked it. I am a fan of Nigar Sultana and Naseem Bano, so it was a treat to see both of them in the same movie. And a young Pran was wonderful to watch too. I don’t remember this particular song but quite liked listening to it now.

Atul ji,
As ususal, derubala ji has correctly identified the singer/actor.
PUSHPA HANS was a very famous and popular name in Lahore and Punjab in the 40s and 50s.
Born in 1931,to R.L.Kapoor and Janaki Rani,Pushpa did B.A. in Music from National College,Lahore. After 10 years of training in Patwardhan Gharana School in lahore, she joined A.I.R. Lahore.
She satrted acting and singing in Hindi and Punjabi films and became very popular. She sang in Composer VInods first hit Punjabi film and became a rage in Punjabi .She acted and sang in V.Shantaram’s Apna Desh,Kaale Badal,Sheesh Mahal,Singar and many other hindi films. She also acted in a Tamil film Nam Naadu in 1949.
She married Col.Hansraj Chopra and settled in Delhi.Being very popular in Punjabi people, she made trips for concerts in UK,USA,Canada where FAJILKA(her birth place)societies felicitated her.
She got Padmashree in 2007.
It seems her Punjabi songs are even today sung by contestants in Music contests over Punjabi TV channels.

Thanks for this detailed information about Pushpa Hans.

Atul,

In the credit title of the film, names of Nizam Panipati and Shams Lucknowi are given as lyricists. There is no mention of Behzad Lucknowi’s name. Perhaps you meant Shams Lucknowi here.
