Though the first few lines of this song are the same as Iqbal’s song, other lines of this song are different. This patriotic song is from “Bhai Bahan” (1959). This song is sung by ASha Bhonsle and picturised on a kid. I have no idea about the identity of the kid. I request my knowledgeable readers to help identify the actor.

Fans of my generation remember Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy for playing the roles of parents, but that was not always the case. In their younger days (it may be difficult to believe, but they were actually young as some time in the past), they actually acted in lead roles.

Party songs/club songs where a female dancer sings and dances became a staple diet of Hindi movies in 1950s. Geeta Dutt was one of the first (if not the first) singer who sang such songs. As for the actors on whom such songs were picturised, there were many, ranging from dancers (Cuckoo, for instance) to heroines (Geeta Bali, for instance). Quite a few of these songs became very popular.

Most music fans run away from classical music, especially the pucca raags as sung by Ustaads. Most songs in Hindi movies are still derived from classical raags, but they are light songs which are made easy for the ordinary music lovers to follow and appreciate.
