Today’s song is from a social film – Khan Bahadur-1937.

The year 1937 was a year of Revolution for the newly started Talkie Film. Initially the films were mainly based on Folk tales, Parsi dramas and Mythological stories. 1937 was a year in which the Film industry was trying to drop its old skin and don a New Avtar. From this year, a variety of subjects were used to make films. If we briefly look at some path breaking, landmark films using Novel themes, we will understand how the film industry was attempting to change itself.

Hullo Atuldom

At the outset I would like to wish the blog & the Brain behind the blog on completion of 20000 posts, with this special post by Sudhirji. It was a song from 1931 film, just like the song with post number 10000.

I clearly remember the wait for the post number 10000, it was the rainy season of 2014 – July 20th, 2014 to be precise; a day after the blog’s sthapana diwas.

Congratulations to Atulji, Sudhirji, and the brigade of contributors led by our In-House Encyclopedia – Sri. Arunkumar Deshmukhji (whose personal score stands at 1823 at the time of writing this post). Having this many posts which give details about the films, artists, background of the particular song with accurate lyrics and accompanying video is no small feat. What began as Atulji’s effort to bring good songs onto the worldwide web (or cyberspace) with accurate lyrics has turned into a library/ a reference point for seekers.

Congratulations once again to the blog & atulites and I feel great that I am a part of it.
