Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 48

One movie which is eligible for ‘Blog Ten-Year Challenge’ today (2 august 2020)is the ‘1954’ movie ‘Baraati’.
The other movies represented on the blog ten years back on this day were ‘Anand-1970’, ‘Ek Dil Sau Afsaane-1963’, ‘Dekh Kabeeraa Roya-1957’, ‘Halaaku-1956’, and ‘Singaar-1949’ in their descending order of posting of songs. All of them have already been YIPPEED.
So, we can see that six songs were posted on 01.08.2010 maintaining the ‘six posts per day’ average very well. 🙂

Good morning. It is 8 am, on Wednesday, the 10th June, 2020. We are onto the 162nd day of the year, and running through the 24th week. It is the 5th day (panchmi) of the waning moon cycle (krishna paksh) of the month of Aashaad. As per the Hijri calendar, today is the 17th day of the month of Shawwal.
The other important associations of today’s date are – it is the International Iced Tea Day – be sure to have a frosty glass of iced tea today. Today also is the International Ball Pen Day. This day in 1943, the first patent was issued in the US, for what would and has become the most popular writing instrument across the globe.
Notable Indian cinema association for today – it is the remembrance day of character actor and villain – Jeevan.

It is 8am, on Friday, the 5th June, 2020. We are onto the 157th day of the year, and running through the 23rd week.
It is also the full moon day today – the Purnima, as per the lunar calendar. It is the last day today of the month of Jyeshtha. From tomorrow, the month of Aashaad with commence.
It is Kabir Jayanti today, the day of the birth of Sant Kabir Das, one of the main architects of the Bhakti Movement in the 15th century India.
The other important associations of today’s date are – it is the World Environment Day today, as the per the calendar of the United Nations. The other lesser known association for today is – International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. As I checked the internet there are a few more very interesting associations of today’s date, no doubt being driven by business considerations. 🙂

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 21

Today’s song is from the movie “Kavi-1954”. I have neither watched the movie nor I am aware of many of its songs. However, when I noticed this movie is due for ‘Blog ten-year challenge’ of 17.04.2020, I checked its pending songs. I came across a duet sung by Rafi Saab and Talat Mehmood which I found interesting since I was not aware of this song. Also, the music of this movie is composed by C. Ramchandra ji one of my favorite music directors which is another reason why I am sharing this song here today.
Three songs were represented on the blog on 17.04.2010 including a song from this movie ‘Kavi-1954’;

In the golden period of Hindi film industry, there were many popular and famous actors (actors include actresses) who were well known to most of the cine goers of their relevant time. Those actors included heroes, heroines, character actors, villains and vamps, comedians, dancers etc. However, there were actors who were not well known to most of the cine goers as most of the time, they would have small roles in films. This post is likely the one which has been the most scrambled for. Leap day it is. So much history and folklore around this date, no doubt. But notwithstanding that, it struck us quite late in the day, as to how such a rare occasion be not celebrated, and not represented on our blog.
