“Baarish”(1957) was produced by K H Kapadiya and directed by Shankar Mukherji for Alankar Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Dev Anand, Nutan, Lalita Pawar, Helen, Anwar Hussan, Nana Palsikar, Jagdish Sethi, Mehmood, Kumkum, Gope, Madan Puri, Kumud Tripathi etc in it.

Delhi is well lighted in the nights these days, so it is hard to come by a dark night unless it is a power failure on a moonless night. Roshan (full name Roshanlal Nagrath) had a career spanning just under two decades. During his career as a music director, he composed music is 55 Hindi movies. His debut movie was “Neki Aur Badi”(1949) and his last movie was “Anokhi Raat”(1968) which was released a few months after his death in 1967.

At last, “Mere DHIRaj ka badla SuDHIR-ji ne de hi diya.”
For quite a long time I was ignorant about this song except its mention in HFGK. Sudhirji, not only searched out the song for me, but also posted it on ‘YouTube’ to save my labour. I am going to thank him further, when as per his promise, he is going to colour-code the lyrics.

There is a controversy, nicely explained by Sudhirbhai, that the abridged version of the 1957 film ‘Anjali’ has surfaced on Internet titled as ‘Arpan’. This version is only one hour long and all but one of the beautiful ten songs of the original film are ruthlessly ‘butchered’’ from this abridged version. I am sure the person with the pair of scissors must not be bestowed with appreciation for GOOD music. My ‘bud-duaa’ will haunt him even in hell, where he is a permanent resident now.

Jaidev had tried a number of humorous songs in his first film ‘Joru Ka Bhai’ (1955). In fact, the theme song ‘Saari Khudaayee Ek Taraf’ with S Balbir and S D Batish, and ‘Dharam Par Mar Jaana Koi Badi Baat Nahin Hai’ with Kishore Kumar and S Balbir, set both these qawaalli type songs in the humorous mood that the situation may have demanded.
