Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Duniya door se suhaani

Posted on: November 25, 2015

This article is written by Avinash Scrapwala, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a contributor to this blog. This article is meant to be posted in atulsongaday.me. If this article appears in sites like lyricstrans.com and ibollywoodsongs.com etc then it is piracy of the copyright content of atulsongaday.me and is a punishable offence under the existing laws.

I am looking for films having the same title, released in different years and I am searching for as yet undiscussed songs from the older among these same name movies.

As a result of this attempt, today we get introduced to a song from the film ‘Aadmi’ released in 1957.

There have been four films with the same title “Aadmi” that were released in 1939, 1957, 1968 and in 1993. All songs of “Aadmi”(1968) have been covered in the blog and one song from the 1939 film has been discussed as well.

‘Aadmi-1957’ was directed by Navnit Rai. It was a ‘Pictures Parade’ presentation, under R.S.Mistry production, Produced by Kumar Anand. It had Nasir Khan, Begum Para, Kamran, Yakub, Nirmal Kumar, Patanjal, Uma Dutt, Kammo, Arvind Kumar, Hira Sawant, Prem Sagar, Nalini and Kamal Mehra. It also had Sheikh, Bhudo Advani and Yakub as Guest Artists.

Story of this film was written by Navnit Rai who also directed this film. Music of this film was composed by Ramnath, while its lyrics were penned by Sartaj Rahmani.

The lyricist’s name piqued my interest to know more about him, but I could not find any information that gives details about the person and his works. I was hoping to get more details on him in the earlier posts on the blog, but none of them talked about him in detail. May be some of our seniors and knowledgeable readers can throw more light on this lyricist Sartaj Rahmani.

However from his filmography available on myswar.com I could summarize his contribution as below:

So far Sartaj Rahmani has penned lyrics for thirty six songs in nine Hindi films as follows:

Sno Film Year Total no of Songs in the film Lyrics by Sartaj Rahmani MD of the Film
1 Baghdad Ka Chor 1955 8 4 B.N.Bali
2 Chaar Paise 1955 6 6 B.D.Burman
3 Aawaara Shahzaadi 1956 7 3 Nashad, Jimmy
4 Husn Baano 1956 9 6 Ramlal-Heerapanna
5 Jallaad 1956 7 1 Naashaad
6 Noor e Yaman 1956 9 3 Bulo C Rani
7 Aadmi 1957 8 8 Ramnath
8 Jahaazi Lutera 1957 7 4 Bulo C Rani
9 Laalach 1960 5 1 S Kishan
Total number of songs by Sartaz Rahmani 36

So far three songs of Sartaj Rahmani have been posted on our blog and the posts are available here;

https://atulsongaday.me/2012/06/08/tere-liye-hai-pyaar-mera/

https://atulsongaday.me/2013/12/10/ae-duniya-ke-maalik-tu-bata/

https://atulsongaday.me/2010/11/23/badnaam-na-ho-jaaun/

The music director Ramnath is making his debut in the blog with this song. From the information available on myswar.com he has given music in only two films ‘Aadmi-1957’ and ‘Meera-1947’ (only one song sharing credits with S.V.Venkatraman & Naresh Bhattacharya). I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on information about him.

Let us now enjoy this philosophical gem from the 1957 film ‘Aadmi’, and as this also happens to be the first song in the film, we start the journey to this film from the very beginning:) ( and wait for more interesting songs coming in future days 🙂 )

From the video links available it can be assumed that this song is played in parts in the movie at different situations. However I have noted down the lyrics as per the two audio links available and given herewith (the uploader has wrongly uploaded the picture of the ‘1968-film-Aadmi’with the songs in the audio links).

@ Shah Saheb
Thanks for pointing out the mistake, I have revised the table of films of lyricist Sartaj Rahmani and have sent the same to Atul ji for adding to the post please.
There are two more films other than that you mentioned above.
Thanks again !!!!!!!

@ Atul ji – many thanks for the post 🙂

There were 3 Ramnaths.

B.Ramnath Wadhwa was composer for film Dushmani-50

R.Ramnathkar was composer for film Sofia-47.

Please do not use and propogate wrong information, given to you. Please be careful.

Nitin ji,

I request you to kindly check your information before posting to avoid WRONG INFORMATION.

People like Avinash ji use your information and then this goes on.

I hope you will do the needful in future.

-AD

Sir, many thanks for sharing the correct information.
-However I would like to mention here that the details I mentioned were based only from the information available on myswar.com, which I have mentioned in the post.
– I have not used Nitin ji’s information, but after he pointed out, I added two more films to it further after checking it on myswar.com and correcting my mistake.
-For the two more additional films ‘Room No.17(1961)’ & ‘Tarzan & Gorilla(1963)’,the lyricists details for all songs are not available fully, and so this might be the reason that these two films does not appear in the ‘discography’ of Sartaj Rahmani.
– for the music director Ramnath I have only taken the information available on myswar.com and have mentioned it in the post.
Thanks again !!

Avinash ji,

I would advise you to kindly check with various sources first, without depending on only MY swar. My swar is NOT a substitute for HFGK,as some people feel. There are many points missing on the site. This has been proved several times.

Our endeavour is to give only the authentic and trustworthy information on this blog,if we have to give. This Blog is fast becoming a reference point for hundreds of music lovers, that is why we are careful about the information.

I hope you will take it in the right spirit.

Avinash ji, and other friends on the blog,

Arun ji is very right in stating that – “This blog is fast becoming a reference point for hundreds of music lovers”. And not just a ‘reference point’, but a reference point that is being considered trustworthy and accurate.

Early morning today, one of the webmasters on the Geeta Dutt page on Hamara Forums, referred to our blog with the following words – “More details about the “discovery” of this song and the lyrics are available on Atul ji’s famous website”. The gentleman is Dr. Mahesh Sagar from IIT Delhi. (This comment for the song “Ho Naar Albeli”).

Yes, this blog is attaining the status as a “Atul ji’s Famous Website”.

It behooves all us contributors to be more careful and more exacting in gathering and verifying information that goes into the articles we post here.

Nitin ji,
We have had this exchange more than once in the past, but it seems our requests and suggestions are having no effect on you. You seem to be in such a tearing hurry to be the first one to post some information, rather any information, as soon as a new post comes on to the blog. Many a time, Arun ji, myself and others have pointed out glaring errors in your data. These glaring errors lead to misinformation, and it goes against the grain of what we as a group are trying to achieve.

Nitin ji,
I request you not to bring us to a point where we will have to start deleting or blocking your comments. Please have patience, please check, double check and verify before you post such information. We all do that. It is not any different standard that we are requesting you to follow.
I hope you will consider this feedback seriously, and put some discipline into your effort to gather data for posting in comments.

With regards
Sudhir

Sudhir ji,

Thanks for your comments.

One more point.

It is not only that unchecked, unverified or uncorroborated info should not be posted here but also INCOMPLETE info should not be posted or atleast must be mentioned so. What is the use of incomplete info ? It paints a wrong picture of the artiste concerned.
