This song is a rare song in more ways than one. First of all, this song from “Haay Mera Dil” (1968) is rare in the sense that I was neither aware of this movie nor of this song till recently. And secondly, this song is rare in the sense that this song is picturised on Kishore Kumar but the voice that sings the song is some other singer- Manna Dey in this case.

I have already posted a memorable Kishore Kumar song (Mere mehboob qayamat hogi) from this movie called “Mr X in Bombay”(1964). This movie starred Kishore Kumar and Kumkum.
I am not sure what the movie was like, but it seems to me that Mr X, the main character of this movie could become invisible, just like the hero of “Mr India” (1987).

Rafi, who had seen his crown as the leading male singer taken over in early 1970s, was in fact almost without work for nearly one year, that is how strongly the gale force of Kishore Kumar’s singing had hit Bollywood music scene those days. But towards the later half of 1970s, one witnesses a resurgence on the part of Rafi. He sang several great songs and it looked like he was yet again on the way to stake claim for the top spot before his untimely demise in 1980.
