“Anpadh” (1978), not to be confused with “Anpadh” (1962), was produced and directed by S M sagar for Adhikar International. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Sarika, Vijayendra Ghatge,Zarina Wahab,Parikshit Sahni,Aruna Irani, Deven Varma, Brahmachari, Master Innu,Meena.T., Ruksana, M.B.Shetty,Preeti Ganguly with friendly appearances by Asha Parekh, Asit Sen, Anwar Hussain, Kundan, Maruti,Birbal, Chandrashekhar,
Harbans, Darshan.M.Arora etc.

I have discussed as many as six songs from “Anpadh” (1962) including the most well known songs from the movie, viz the two ghazals from it.
Here is another song, which is a lesser known song from this movie. This song is a stage dance song which is picturised as a cultural programme on stage which is watched by a houseful audience.

“Anpadh” (1962) is known as a movie that contained a couple of immortal ghazals that earned Madan Mohan the sobriquet of “Ghazal King” from Lata and earned high praise from Naushad who opined that these two ghazals was equal to all the musical creations of Naushad. Coming from Lata and Naushad, that was high praise indeed.

“Anpadh” (1962) is mainly known for its two ghazals that are regarded as among the finesh ghazals of all times. But this movie had other songs as well, and these other songs were great songs on their own.

“Anpadh”(1962) had several songs sung by Lata. I was under the impression that all these songs were picturised on Mala Sinha, but that is not the case.

It is one of the immortal ghazals of Bollywood. When one of the biggest music directors of that time, Naushad, heard the ghazals of Anpadh ( other ghazal being ” hai isi mein pyar ki aabroo”), he found out who the composer was, and then phoned Madan Mohan and took an appointment with him. When Naushad met Madan Mohan, Naushad said that these two ghazals by Madan Mohan were equal to all the compositions that he ( Naushad) had ever created.
