As I see in the “some stats” page, Lyricist poet Majrooh Sultanpuri has 525 songs in the blog, which is the highest so far for a lyricist in the blog. The word “Majrooh” could not have been his real name. It is the “takkhallus” (Pen name) of the poet. “Majrooh” means injured/pained or a someone broken hearted and in pain. Others may have a different view of this words meaning, but I hate to go to online dictionaries to find meanings of urdu words. I would rather go by the feel.

I am totally overwhelmed with the response to my first write up. I want to thank Atul ji for posting it almost immediately. Thus encouraged I am now ready to do my second post. What could be the second step after a Lata solo ? No prizes for quessing, it has to be a Rafi solo. Mohammed Rafi solo by O.P.Nayyar to be precise. I often get confused between the two similarly named movies of 1960s, viz “Shikaar” and “Shikaari”. The confusion is compounded by the fact that both movies had similar storylines, where the hero would go to a jungle for “shikaar” where he would enounter tribals wearing Red Indian/ African kinds of heargears etc and the daughter of the chief would be the chief female dancer among the tribal dance troupe that would sing and dance at the drop of a spear.
