Mat jaiyyo naukariyaa chhod ke

Posted on: December 8, 2011

“Do Badan” (1965) is a J B Films presentation. This movie was directed by Raj Khosla. The star cast had Manoj Kumar, Asha Parekh, Pran, Dhumal, Simi Garewal, Mohan Choti, Manmohan Krishna, Wasti, , Huda Bihari, etc in it.

This movie was a musical blockbuster with songs that are remembered to this day. I have discussed as many as five songs from this movie in the past.

Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Asha Parekh and Manoj Kumar. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi, whom I describe as the composer of iconic songs. He fully lives up to this description in this movie.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

Mat jaiyyo naukariya chhod ke
tore paiyyaan padoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhodke
tore paiyyaan padoon balmaa
tore paiyyan padoon
main binti karoon
tore paiyyaan padoon
main binti karoon
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhod ke
tore paiyyaan padoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhod ke

dekh piya pardes mein aisi
roop ki chhaayaa naahin milegi
dekh piya pardes mein aisi
roop ki chhaayaa naahin milegi
paisa rupaiyya mil jaayegaa
prem ki maayaa naahin milegi
preet nahin to kuchh bhi nahin hai
saanchi kahoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhodke
tore paiyyaan padoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhodke

preet karo aur reet na jaano
tum to ho saiyyaan
thethh anaadi
preet karo aur reet na jaano
tum to ho saiyyaan
thethh anaadi
bhool bhayee ye mose preetam
jo main jiyarwaa tose haari
Jaao main tumse naa boloongi
saanchi kahoon balmaaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhod ke
tore paiyyan padoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhodke

deepak lai ke dhoondh lo jag mein
hum si mohaniya naa paaoge
deepak lai ke dhoondh lo jag mein
hum si mohaniya naa paaoge
jiske gore gaal pe til ho
aisi sajaniya naa paaoge
humse bichhad ke pachhtaaoge
saanchi kahoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhodke
tore paiyyaan padoon balmaa
mat jaiyyo naukariya chhod ke

Atul ji,
In the write up above, you have said that Do Badan was a musical blockbuster.
Raj khosla’s ALL films had wonderful music always. There were 2 reasons-
1) He was a real taskmaster for the composers and never compromised on the quality and
2) Raj khosala himself was a trained classical singer.
In fact he came to Bombay to become a singer.
Very few people know that he has actually sung songs and given playback in some hindi films.
His first song was in Bulo C Rani’s film Bhool Bhulaiyan-1949 (Rail mein jiya mora). It was a comedy song sung with a chorus.
He also sang a song in Madan Mohan’s debut film Aankhen-1950 (Madhur suron mein). It was a solo song.
His major films like CID,Woh kaun thi,Do Raaste,Main tulsi tere aangan ki,Kala pani,Solva saal,Bombai ka babu,Mera gaon mera desh etc were full of songs which made the films popular.

Arun ji,

Minor correction. In your comment above, you have switched the names of the two films listed for songs sung by Raj Khosla.

The song “Rail Mein Jiyaa Mora. . .” is from Aankhen (1950), music by Madan Mohan, (this song is already posted on this blog).

and the song “Madhur Suron Mein Suno Jhamelaa. . .” is from Bhool Bhulainyaan (1949), music by Bulo C Rani.
