I have posted a few songs from 1950s and 1960s which featured Kumkum. She never made it to the top, but that does not mean that she was not good. It is just that she was confined to C grade movies most of the time, just as Chitragupta found himself confined to composing music for C grade movies.

“Oonche log” (1965), not to be confused with “Oonche log” (1985) was an interesting movie which had no role for females. The supposed leading lady of the movie hardly had any role or dialogues in the movie. I cannot understand the reason behind such misogyny on the part of the makers of this movie.

1968, the titanium year of Bollywood movie music had so many great songs that a sizeable number of such songs struggled to get into the popularity bandwagon. Many great songs found themselves forgotten without getting the chance to be heard by the audience.

Chitragupta was a music director who was always on the fringes of mainstream movies. Most of the time he would give music for C grade movies viz mythological movies, stunt movies etc, and such movies alongwith their music failed to make much impression with mainstream Bollywood audience.
