Ye parbaton ke daayare
Posted November 26, 2008
on:1968, the titanium year of Bollywood movie music had so many great songs that a sizeable number of such songs struggled to get into the popularity bandwagon. Many great songs found themselves forgotten without getting the chance to be heard by the audience.
Movies that came from less than A grade producers, and which flopped were at a disadvantage because their songs were heard by very few and as a result these songs failed to take off.
“Vaasna” was very much a C grade movie and it flopped. One of its song “itni nazuk na bano” still found its way into radio and loudspeakers and became popular. But other songs of this movie were less lucky.
Here is another song from this movie which is a duet sung by Rafi and Lata. This song is picturised on Biswajeet and Kumud Chuggani. Yes, now I have come to know that the lady is indeed Kumud Chuggani.
I wonder whether this song comes in the movie after the “itni naazuk na bano” song. It seems that this song must be after the “itni nazuk ” song, considering that the girl seems to have made up with the hero. Moreover, she looks fairly well built in this song. Perhaps she takes the advise of Biswajeet’s seriously and becomes non-nazuk by the time she gets to sing this duet with Biswajeet.
As far as I am concerned, even I have listened to this song very few times. These days we have the luxury of listening to these songs at our will. Such a luxury was not available to public in 1968, and that is why songs like this failed to take off 40 years ago. The fact that there were too many outstanding songs in 1968 competing for the eardrums of the audience, was also one of reasons why songs like this fell by the wayside.

Song-Ye parbaton ke daayare(Vaasna) (1968) singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD- Chitragupta
Lyrics
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed den dilon ki daastaan
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed den dilon ki daastaan
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
zaraa si zulf khol do fizaa mein itr ghol do
zaraa si zulf khol do fizaa mein itr ghol do
nazar jo baat kah chuki wo baat munh se bol do
ke jhoom uthe nigaah mein bahaar kaa samaan
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
ye chup bhi ik sawaal hai ajeeb dil kaa haal hai
ye chup bhi ik sawaal hai ajeeb dil kaa haal hai
har ik khayaal kho gayaa bas ab yahi khayaal hai
ki faasalaa na kuchh rahe hamaare darmiyaan
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
ye roop rang ye phaban chamakte chaand saa badan
ye roop rang ye phaban chamakte chaand saa badan
buraa na maano tum agar to choom loon kiran kiran
ke aaj hauslon mein hai balaa ki garmiyaan
ye parbaton ke daayre ye shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed den dilon ki daastaan
ye parbaton ke daayare ye shaam kaa dhuaan
hmmm hmmm hmmm

Hey Parbaton Ke Daiyre did not fall off the wayside. Many, many of us remember these songs, word for word, and have the tracks too.
But I do agree, people who have not come accross these songs have missed out on some great stuff. Todays music? Comparitively trash!!!

There was another popular song in Vaasna – ‘Main Sadke Jaoon mere saiyan’. Wonder who that was picturised on?!

Kumud chuggani is very beautiful & adorable. She has acted excellently in the duet song along with Biswajeeth. It remains a pleasure to hear the song even today
