Today’s song is the last song from the film Devta-1956 to be covered here, making the film YIPPEED !
Devta (Snake God) is a 1956 Hindi partly coloured swashbuckler film written by Sadasiva Bramham and directed by Pattana. The film stars Vyjayanthimala in the title role, along with Gemini Ganeshan and Anjali Devi in the lead, while Agha, Bipin Gupta, Krishna Kumari and M. N. Nambiar form an ensemble cast. The film was produced by Narayanan Iyengar with his production company-Narayanan Company. The music was composed by C. Ramchandra, with lyrics provided by Rajendra Krishan. The film was a remake of the 1955 Tamil film Kanavane Kankanda Deivam.

Today’s song is from a South-made movie – Devta-1956. This song ” Phoolon ke mele….” was quite popular and famous in those days. I was surprised to find that it was yet to feature on this Blog. I am glad that it waited for me !

“Devtaa”(1956) was produced by K S Narayanan and directed by Patanna for Narayanan and Company, Bombay. This “kaalpnik” movie had Anjali Devi, Vyjyanti Mala, Ganesh, Kumari Kamla, Bipin Gupta, Krishna Kumari, Agha Indira, Nambiar, Roop Kumar, Kamal Krishn etc in it.

“Devtaa” (1956) was a Hindi movie produced by a South Indian production house and this movie had South Indian actors in lead roles. Gemini Ganeshan, Anjalai Devi, Vyjyanti Mala were the lead actors of this movie.

C Ramchandra was one of the earlier pioneers of Bollywood movie music. He was one of the first music directors to make the most of the voice of Lata. In fact, Lata-C Ramchandra compositions are comparable to Lata-Madan mohan compositions, which came later.

“Devtaa” (1978) was a small budget off beat movie with Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi in lead roles. The movie itself did reasonably well with its small target audience, and then the movie was forgotten.
