‘Dhoop Chhaaon’ (1977) was produced by KK Jain & SN Jain and directed by Prahlad Sharma for Trishul Arts, Bombay. The movie had Hema Malini, Yogita Bali, Shaukat Kaifi Azmi, Sanjeev Kumar, Om Shivpuri, Nasir Hussain, Gajanan Jagirdar, Yunus Parvez, Dinesh Hingoo etc in it.

‘Dhoop Chhaaon’ (1977) was a movie produced by KK Jain & SN Jain and directed by Prahlad Sharma for Trishul Arts. It had Hema Malini, Yogita Bali, Shaukat Kaifi Azmi, Sanjeev Kumar, Om Shivpuri, Nasir Hussain, Gajanan Jagirdar, Yunus Parvez, Dinesh Hingoo etc in the cast. Lyricists used were Virendra Mishra, Vitthalbhai Patel, Vishweshwar Sharma and Kaifi Azmi. Shankar-Jaikishan were the music directors (of course it was Shankar alone after Jaikishan’s untimely death in 1971).

“Dhoop Chhaaon” (1954), not to be confused with “Dhoop Chhaaon” (1935) was produced by M O Suhail and directed by S M Raza for Suhail Art Productions, Bombay. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Shyama, N. A. Ansari, Mumtaz, Krishna Kumari, Shamim Akhtar, Agha, Maqbool, A Roshan, Ahmad etc in it, with S Nazir in guest appearance.

The movie had Biswanath Bhaduri, Vikram Kapoor, K C Dey, Ajmat Bibi, Nawab, Kidar Sharma, Uma Shashi, Dev Bala, Nagendra Bala, Giridharilal Vaidhya, Babulal, Ahi Sanyal, Indu Mukherji, Trilok Kapoor etc in it.

Music director Rai Chand Boral (1903-81) is credited with bringing playback to Hindi cinema with the number “Main khush hona chaahoon khush ho na sakoon”, a chorus song in the New Theatre production Dhoop Chhaaon (1935). A personna no less than the doyen of Hinsustani Cine Sangeet, the late Anil Biswas, reportedly complimented Boral, recepient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1978, as the Father of Indian Cinema Music.
