Ten years back on this date viz on 16th October 2012, five songs from five different movies were covered on the blog. Here are the details:-

Out of remaining two movies, one movie was unreleased and totl number of songs recorded for that movie is not known. Other songs of that unrelaesed movie may not be available either.

16/10/2020 – 72nd Birthday of Hema Malini

So the dream girl is turning 7 & 2, 72. This same way we should make 2 & 2, 22. Right ? wrong, imdb is making “two and two make five”, in simple translation of the movie “Do aur do paanch”(1980). They have “Athiest” for “Nastik”, “The patriot” for “Deshpremi” and “Blind law” for ‘Andha Kanoon”. This is great going. But they go a step ahead and translate “Naseeb” as “Destiny and Fate”, whereas “Dard” is “Conflict of emotion”. I learnt today that ‘Trishul” is “Trident” and “Kasauti” is “Criterion” in English. Many of the 173 films listed in the filmography have been left alone, to dwell in their hindi/urdu quagmire. Some titles like ‘Shareef Badmash” ‘Sharafat” ‘Sholay” ‘Sachhe ka bolbalaa”, “ Ek chadar maili si”,”Jise tu qubool kar le” and ‘Maan Gaye ustaad” have been wisely given a wide berth.

“Dream Girl” (1977) was directed by Pramod Chakraborty for Sarthi International, Bombay. The movie had Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Ashok Kumar, Prem Chopra, Pinchoo Kapoor, Asrani, Satyen Kappoo, Lalita Pawar, Dina Pathak, Komila Wirk, Alka, S N Bannerji, Saproo, Praveen Paul, Birbal, Sheikh, Kuljeet, Dubey, Lalita Kumari, Ritu Komal, Madhup Sharma, Jagdish Raj, Rajan Kapoor, Master Chintoo, Raju, Alankar, Laddoo, Padmini, Cheekoo, Banti, Madhu Malini, Randhir, Dhumal Azad etc, with special appearances by Seema Deo, Ramesh Deo, Mohan Choti and Sujit Kumar.

Today (16 october) is the 64th birthday of Hema Malini. She ruled the roost in 1970s. So much so that she was described as dream girl by the media. To capitalise on this sobriquet, Pramod Chakraborty actually made a movie called “Dream Girl” (1977) signing up Hema Malini and Dharmendra.
