Kisi shaayar ki ghazal Dream Girl

Posted on: October 16, 2012

Today (16 october) is the 64th birthday of Hema Malini. She ruled the roost in 1970s. So much so that she was described as dream girl by the media. To capitalise on this sobriquet, Pramod Chakraborty actually made a movie called “Dream Girl” (1977) signing up Hema Malini and Dharmendra.

The USP of this movie was its title song “Kisi shaayar ki ghazal Dream girl”. This song was sung by Kishore Kumar and chorus. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The song is picturised on Dharmendra and Hema Malini.

Here is wishing a very happy birthday to the heart throb of 1970s. Why just 1970s, she is still in demand even today, as can be seen from her TV advertisements where she appears with her daughter. She looks more like their sister than mother. 🙂 To my mind she certainly looks prettier now than she did in 1970s.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Hema is really pretty. With age, she has got more beautiful. A friend once told me that she was such an icon that girls who were a little self obsessed used to be scolded “Who do you think you are, Hema Malini?”

As for this song, my little nephew was a toddler who had just learned to lisp, and he would try to sing this song and just manage “Dhingal” instead of “Dream Girl”. To this day I hear his “Dhingal” when I listen to this song.

This film brings back many memories for us who grow up in the seventies and so does its songs.
I do not remember exactly how many movies of Hema Malini I must have watched, but then she was there all the way in the seventies…
Today wishing Hema Malini Ji a Very Happy birthday…!!!
Thanks Khyati Ji – Atul Ji for this post.
