The song under discussion is from the movie ‘Gopaal Krishna-1979’. I have no recollections of watching this movie during my growing up years when this movie was released.
‘Gopal Krishna-1979’ was a mythological movie. It was directed by Vijay Sharma for Rajshree Picutres, Bombay and it was passed by the Censor Board on 23.06.1979.
The cast of this movie included Sachin, Zareena Wahab, Manhar Desai, Master Sandeep, Rita Bhaduri, Jeevan, Dev Kumar, Jairaj, Surendra Kumar, Mahipal, Shahu Modak, Rajan Haksar, Satyajit, Sunder, Keerti Kumar, Brahmachari, Kundan Kumar, Viju Khote, Birbal, Nandlal Sharma, Balwant Bansal, Polsan, Brijendra Mohan, Pardesi, Nandita Thakur, Shobha Khote, Sashi Saxena, Asha Potdar and others.

Today’s song is from a very old film – almost 86 years old – Gopal Krishna-1938.
Modern Technology has made wonders possible, otherwise finding such old songs unthinkable. The first year of the Talkie Cinema saw the release of 24 films in its first year-1931. None of these films are available now. The oldest Hindi film that is available today is the film ” Ayodhya Ka Raja”-1932 in Hindi and Marathi (as अयोध्येचा राजा ), made by the Prabhat Film Company of Poona, Maharashtra. Same year, Prabhat also made another film ” Shyam Sunder”-1932. This was the Debut film of Shahu Modak, as young Krishna and also Shanta Apte as his mother-Yashoda. This too was made in Hindi and Marathi.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 116
————————————————————————————–
Ten years back on this date viz on 20th October 2012, two songs from two different movies were covered on the blog. Here are the details:-
| Blog post number | Song | Movie (Year) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6874 | Parmukh bani tu Kamla | Madhuri (1932) | 4 songs covered out of 16 by now |
| 6875 | Naachat jhoomat jaayen | Gopal Krishna(1938) | 2 songs covered out of 14 by now |
We can observe that this date ten years ago (20 October 2012) was a lean day when only two songs from two different movies were covered. Both these movies are still unyippeed in the blog. So technically both these movies are eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (20 october 2022).

Today (1 june 2020) is pehli taareekh. And it turns out that today is World Milk Day. In India, National Milk Day falls on a different day, namely 26 November, which is the birthday of Verghese Kurien, who brought White revolution( Milk revolution) in India.

When I was growing up, India was a desperately poor country. It was deficient in foodgrains and also milk. Our history books wistfully recalled those days in distant past when India was a prosperous country where “दूध की नदियाँ बहा करती थीं” ( “doodh ki nadiyan baha karti thi). Indians wistfully sighed and felt envious of countries like Netherlands that they were the nation that had doodh ki nadi flowing in their country.

Missing Films of 1960s – 62
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Over a period of time now, more and more films and film songs are becoming available online. Earlier this week itself, Bakshi ji mentioned in one of our conversations that he is now downloading films right on to his smart phone from the internet, and watches them at his convenience. The smart phones are coming up with huge storage memories. The mobile phone service providers are coming up with plans that allow large data volumes to be downloaded. As per him, services like Jio are able to provide good bandwidth, and it does not take long to download a full film. This seems to be a good time for lovers of Hindi films and film music – just log on, do some search and one is able to find many items of interest. And to add, of course, that more and more people are now uploading films and songs online, and sharing with the world.

Naachat jhoomat jaayen
Posted by: Atul on: October 20, 2012
This article is written by Sadanand Kamath, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
GOPAL KRISHNA (1938) was produced under the banner of Prabhat Film Company both in Hindi and Marathi versions. The film was directed by V G Damle and S Fatelal. The star cast included Ram Marathe, Shanta Apte, Parshuram, Ganpatrao Tambat etc. I have not seen the full movie but based on a few short clips of the films including the video clips of the songs that are available on the internet, it is a mythological film with a subtle message of nationalism against the British rule in India. The conflict between Gokul villagers on the one hand and King Kansa on the other side was compared with that of Indians and the British rule. Some of the dialogues of Krishna were full of nationalist fervour. For instance, he says to Nand that if we continued the live under the fear of King Kansa, none of our work would be successful. In some other context, Krishna says that the King and his men have been blinded by an authority of absolute power and when Kans’s men drag our cows like dogs and keep with them without proper food, such ruler and his men need to be mauled.
