‘Baarood’ from 1960 is a relatively better known film, probably that being a Sheikh Mukhtar film, it does get some attention. The film is a social drama produced under the banner of Super Pictures, Bombay and is produced and directed by Aspi Irani. I realised it recently that the songs of “Sangam” (1964), which was a musical extravaganza of its time, are under represented in the blog. So far only four songs from this movie have been discussed and several well known songs from the movie are still at large.

Saajan tumse pyaar karoon main

Recently, I came across a rare song ‘saajan tumse pyaar karoon main’ from the film BADNAAM (1952) sung by Lata Mangeshkar. It was written by Hasrat Jaipuri and set to music by Basant Prakash. I always felt that this talented music director belonging to the golden era of Hindi film songs was side tracked by Hindi film industry for reasons best known to them. As a result, during his 30years of active filmy career, he was the music director in about a dozen films only, some of which were joint ventures with other music directors.
