I am aware that “April Fool” (1964) had some great songs. But even I was not aware of this song.

This movie has a rather prosaic title, viz “Mera Ghar Mere Bachche” (1960) and the actors of this movie are not all that well known. In fact the picturisation of this song had me confused. This song is a duet and the gentleman in the picturisation looked like he was apeing N T Ramarao, the telugu movie superstar of the time, whereas the lady looked like an aspiring body double of Vyjyanti Mala. Now I know that she is Naaz, also known as Baby Naaz. (I thank Mr Harshad Bhatt for helping me out with her identification). The gentleman is Subiraj.

In late 1940s and early 1950s, actors were shown seated at the piano and singing a song. Now singing a song and playing a piano simultaneously is a superhuman job, but Bollywood actors would be shown doing that routinely.

There have been three movies called “Ziddi” over the years that I am aware of. These movies were released in 1948, 1964 and 1997. “Ziddi” (1948) and “Ziddi” (1964) have some very fine songs and I have posted songs from both these movies in this blog. The 1997 movie of this name is not noted for any great songs, rather this movie is known for a dialogue of Sunni Deol, that went- “ye dhaayi kilo ka haath jab kisi pe uthta hai to wo uthtaa nahin, uth jaata hai” (when this 2 1/2 kilo fist comes down upon someone, he cannot get up, he can only go up). 😉 It is not music for the ears of the baddies, that is for sure.

“Rakhwaala” (1971) was a movie starring Dharmendra and Leena Chandawarkar. This movie has been forgotten by now, but it was a decent movie with great music.

Of late, I have been posting songs from “Aab e Hayaat” (1955) in this blog. Most of the songs in the movie have been sung by Geeta Dutt and picturised on the heroine, though I have also posted a song sung by Asha Bhonsle ( picturised on Helen) and one sung by Hemant Kumar ( picturised on Premnath).
