I have noticed that Hindi movies rarely show actors keeping pets like say cats and dogs. When I was growing up in 1960s and 1970s, most Indian families regarded keeping pets a luxury that average families could ill afford. Then there were people who were superstitious and they thought that a cat especially black one crossing their path was inauspicious. Only villains would keep pets in Hindi movies.

I have not discussed a Shammi Kapoor style song in this blog for quite some time. No, it is not because I have run out of such songs. There are still many such songs that are yet to be covered.

“Do Kaliyaan” (1968) is one of those movies that I have actually watched (albeit on TV) and the only thing I recall about this movie is that Baby Sonia (now known as Nitu Singh) had played a double role in this movie (and that is why this title called “Do Kaliyaan” viz “two buds”).

I have not kept a count of it, but I think I have posted songs from most Shammi Kapoor movies in this blog. Considering that Shammi Kapoor came into his own in 1957 with “Tumsa Nahin Dekhaa” (1957) and continued till late 1960s with the kind of movies with he is identified, he may have worked in about 20 odd typically Shammi Kapoor movies. I have posted songs from almost all these movies, in addition to posting songs from other Shammi Kapoor movies where he played other kinds of roles.

These days I am posting songs from “Pooja Ke Phool” (1964). I have noticed that this movie has some wonderful songs in it. So far I have posted two songs from this movie which were sung by Lata. These songs are easily among the best songs that the Lata-Madan Mohan combination gave us in their long association.
