“Milaap”(1972) was directed by B R Ishara for Nitin Films International, Bombay. This “social” movie had Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy in lead roles (for the first time). Danny Danzongpa, Sarita, Manmohan Krishn, Shukla, Abbas Sheikh, Phatik Majumdar, Amal Sen, Mishri lal, Fazlu, Shiv Kumar etc were also there in the movie.

“Milaap” (1955) was the debut movie of N Datta as a full feledged music director. This movie has by and large been forgotten by now alongwirh its music. But in the process of digging up the songs of this movie, we are coming up with one gem after another.

Music director N Dutta started his career as an independent composer in 1955. That year, two films were released which have music created by him. The films are ‘Marine Drive’ and ‘Milaap’. The musical scores are very impressive in both these films, and that set the pace for N Dutta’s career in subsequent years. Three songs each from both these films are already represented on this blog. But as I reviewed the remaining songs from this film, there is still a few gems contained in these movies that need to be discussed here. In this post, I present the fourth song from ‘Milaap’, that is listed as the debut film for N Dutta.

Datta Naik was born in Goa, which was then a Portuguese colony. He came to Bombay to try his luck as a music director. Initially he acted as an assistant to S D Burman before starting out as an independent music director. He changed his name to N Datta by re ordering the sequence of his name.

I am not much familar with this movie called “Milaap” (1955). Apparently it was a suspense movie directed by Raj Khosla. The movie had Dev Anand, Geeta Bali, K N Singh, Tuntun,Johny Walker, Tuntun etc. The star cast is quite impressive, and this appears to be good movie to watch if one can get hold of it.
