I recently discovered the songs of “Maai Baap” (1957). I also found that Johny Walker played a long role (a comedian villain) in this movie. He had more than one song in this movie.

I maintain that some of the most memorable O P Nayyar compositions have been picturised not on regular heroes, but on a comedian,viz Johny Walker. In some of these movies, Johny Walker in fact played the hero as well.

I had heard this song in passing in the past, without paying much attention, and without being aware which movie this song is from. This time I listened to (and watched) this song in the right earnest, and I was suitably impressed.

Yesterday I posted a wonderful “roadside tamasha” song picturised on Minu Mumtaz and Johny Walker from “Ek Saal” (1957).
The song must have caught the imagination of the movie goers, and the same duo played similar roles in subsequent movies as well.

“Gaban” (1966) is a movie that is not remembered much today, but it had a few nice songs. The iconic song “ehsaan mere dil pe tumhaara hai doston” is a song from this movie.
