“Khazaanchi”(1958), a remake of “Khazaanchi”(1941) was directed by P N Arora for All India Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Shyama, Helen, Balraj Sahni, Chitra, Manorama, Minoo Mumtaz, Rajan Haksar etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Five songs from the movie have been covered in the blog in the past.

Here is the sixth song from “Khazaanchi”(1958) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.

The song is picturised as a get together song where Rajendra Kumar has been invited for tea by Shyama’s father, and this song gets sung on the occasion. I am unable to identify the lady lip syncing this song. My blind guess (based on the cast) is Chitra. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.

I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable in the lyrics.

This song has the same tune as the “Mera Saaya”(1966) song Nainon waali ne haay meraa dil lootaa which was also composed by Madan Mohan.

With this song, “Khazaanchi”(1958) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare (Khazaanchi)(1958) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Madan Mohan

Lyrics

aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare
baaton baaton mein dil waale dil haare
aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare
baaton baaton mein dil waale dil haare

udte udte kahaan se aaya ik panchhi albela
udte udte kahaan se aaya ik panchhi albela
meri atariya baith ke boli ye jag pyaar ka mela
bole aisi meethi boli teer jiya pe maare
aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare
baaton baaton mein dil waale dil haare

pehle pehle lagti hai jo anhoni si baaten
pehle pehle lagti hai jo anhoni si baaten
hote hote ho jaati hai pyaar ki wo mulaakaaten
aankh milaate hi dil dole
khel ye kaise ??
aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare
baaton baaton mein dil waale dil haare

aaj agar hai baat zara si
hoga ye kal afsaana
aaj agar hai baat zara si
hoga ye kal afsaana
jahaan jahaan bhi shama jalegi
aa ke rahega parwaana
bante bante do begaane
ban jaate hain pyaare
aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare
baaton baaton mein dil waale dil haare
aankhon aankhon mein ho gaye mast ishaare

Lyrics

meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar

jaise haule se baagon mein aaye bahaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar

madhur madhur ye kisne keh di baat pyaar ki
lehraati ithlaati aayi raat pyaar ki
madhur madhur ye kisne keh di baat pyaar ki
lehraati ithlaati aayi raat pyaar ki
ik dil ne kaha
ik dil ne suna
aur chupke hi chupke se hua ikraar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
jaise barse(?) phuhaar jaise dole sitaar
jaise haule se baagon mein aaye bahaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar

chaand sitaaron
tum kya jaano raaz preet ka aa
jaao jaao
naam na poochho mere meet ka
chaand sitaaron
tum kya jaano raaz preet ka aa
jaao jaao
naam na poochho mere meet ka

mat poochho pata
meri bagiya mein aayi hai pehli bahar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
jaise barse phuhaar jaise dole sitaar
jaise haule se baagon mein aaye bahaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar
meri ankhiyon mein jhoome dekho saajan ka pyaar

Today (11 november 2015) is Deepaawali, the festival of lights. This festival is easily the biggest festival of India. Initially this was just a festival of lights but now it has become a festival when people go on a shopping spree on a major scale. Indian market records their maximum sales of the year during the festival. People have been sold the idea that it is an auspicious occasion for buying expensive items.:) It is a day when shoppers make sure that Goddess Laxmi reaches the households of shopkeepers with a vengeance. 🙂

Today’s song is from film Khazanchi-58. It is a very interesting and foot tapping song by Asha Bhonsle-The Inimitable.

For senior readers of this Blog, the name Khazanchi may ring a bell and they may remember the iconic film Khazanchi of the 1941, made by Pancholis in Lahore. That film had changed the HFM for ever and freed it from the rut of Theatrical, classical, boring songs, which actually sounded the same despite being from different films !
