On this date ten years ago (viz. on 2 April 2013), eight songs were covered in the blog. Seven of them were from seven different movie while one song was a non film song. Here are the details:-

We observe that two movies (out of 7) whose songs were covered on this date ten years ago (on 2 april 2013) have since been YIPPEED. That leaves us with five unYIPPEED movies that re eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today (2 april 2023).
The oldest of these unYIPPEED movies is “Naiyya”(1947).

It had Mazhar Khan, Munnawar Sultana, Ashraf Khan, Anwar, Shahzadi, Suman, Balaram, Siraj and others.

“Naiyya”(1979) was directed by Prashant Nanda for Chanda Pictures, Bombay. I became aware of this fact when I discussed the earlier songs from this movie. Initially I was under the impression that this movie was a Rajshree Productions movie and once again I reverted back to the same impression with passage of time 🙂

The admirers of both Anil Biswas and Mohammed Rafi are intrigued by the fact that Anil Biswas collaborated with Mohammed Rafi for far less number of songs – probably 10 in numbers. One possible reason could be that when Mohammed Rafi ‘s career as a playback singer was picking up, Anil Biswas’s career had already reached the zenith. During this period, he had Mukesh and Talat Mehmood for playback singing who were preferred over Mohammed Rafi by most of the then lead actors like Dilip Kumar.
