Hullo Atuldom

I think I should get over this habit of waking up late to dates. I remembered that today (14 august 2018) was Johnny Lever’s birthday and later, yesterday, around seven in the evening I remembered that 14th august is also Shammi Kapoor’s anniversary. He passed away this date in 2011. Its been seven years.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 6
——————————————————————–

Hullo to all in Atuldom

Mubaarak Ho. . .

At the very outset, I must congratulate our Leader or Sutradhar as I like to call him or Ranchi Wala Gaanewala as Sudhir ji once called him (he is no longer in Ranchi but the name stays) on reaching a very important milestone- 10000 songs, imagine it is TEN THOUSAND posts by a single person. For this we should all give a collective YYIIPPEEEE!!!! Mubarak Ho! Mubarak Ho!

This must be a record of sorts where a blog has survived this looong and its karta-dharta has sooo many posts to his credit. And to think that this blog doesn’t make any comments or remarks on any person, place, caste, religion etc. the closest we come to religion is when a bhajan or qawwali is posted. Three cheers to that!

People who are into watching Hindi movies must have noticed that the lead actors do not seem to do anything for their livelihood in Hindi movies. The hero in these movies is seen wooing the leading lady, first by singing a teasing song, then a romantic song. Then there would be a separation song, a misunderstanding song, a reconciliation song etc. Thinking about his/her love interest appears to be the full time job with Hindi movie lead actors which certainly cannot be one’s means of livelihood unless their names happen to be Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, who actually earned their livelihood by this method.

This song won the Filmfare award for Best female playback singer of 2008, for Shreya Ghoshal. Shreya Ghoshal is one find of the decade as far as female playback singers are concerned. She is here there everywhere, in all films. She has dominated the female playback scene for some years now. With Lata and Asha both almost out of contention and singing few songs, there was a gap which is filled somewhat first by Alka Yagnik in the 90’s and than by Shreya Ghoshal. I especially like her solo songs. Of course, nobody can quite dominate a field like Lata and Asha did for 40 odd years. The field is wide open now and with more competetion from all around. But Shreya Ghoshal is most talented of the lot and sounds good in all types of songs.
