All those who are into Hindi movies are told that the romantic song in Hindi movie consists of the hero and heroine singing this song running around trees. Now, I have been a veteran movie watcher (and these days a veteran songs watcher), and I have watched thousands of romantic songs but I failed to locate even one song where the lead duo are shown running around trees.

I became aware of this movie called “Magroor” (1950) thanks to its review by Memsaab. This is a delightful movie, and it is worth watching even for someone like me who cannot normally sit through the length of an entire Hindi movie.

“Aankhen” (1950) is the debut movie of Madan Mohan as a music director. I have written about three songs from this movie in the past. In the cases of these three songs, nly the audio was available.

I was under the impression that “Wo Kaun Thi” (1964) was all about Lata-Madan Mohan compositions. There were as many as three of them. But there were other singers in this movie as well.

“Anpadh” (1962) is known as a movie that contained a couple of immortal ghazals that earned Madan Mohan the sobriquet of “Ghazal King” from Lata and earned high praise from Naushad who opined that these two ghazals was equal to all the musical creations of Naushad. Coming from Lata and Naushad, that was high praise indeed.

All patriotic songs have the ability to move the listeners. Out of these songs, the most moving songs are those that talk of the martyr, the shaheed. There has been in fact two movies called “Shaheed”, viz “Shaheed” (1948) and “Shaheed” (1965).
