So here is the ‘S’ alphabet song I talked about in my last post on ‘R’ song. It is a Rafi solo with two versions, one happy and one sad, from the movie “Jhuk gayaa aasmaan”. Such a musical blockbuster film starring Rajendra Kumar and Saira Bano. And wherever I was looking for Rafi sahab’s songs in the list with S-J’s music they were all in red. I could not believe my luck when I found that this song was not posted.

Disclaimer: If I appear to be even more incoherent in this post than I usually am (and that would be quite an achievement!), blame it on Saira Banu. 🙂 The line that comes to mind is “Kya kya na sahey hum ne sitam aap ke khaatir”. 🙂 Further explanation in the post.

Rakhi Gulzar was born on 15th August 1947. She wasn’t exactly a midnight’s child, but was born a few hours later. She grew up to be a stunningly beautiful woman and an accomplished actress. She had large honey coloured eyes, a round face and lovely features. She debuted in Hindi films with the successful Jeevan Mrityu along with Dharmendra. She went on to establish herself as a successful leading woman with hits like Sharmilee, Paras, Kabhi Kabhie, Daag, Trishul and Doosra Admi (my personal favorite).

This is the last remaining song from Anjaana (1969). It is a ‘Jeep’ song and happens right at the beginning of the film. I got a chance to see this movie on T V during a weekend. Much to my chagrin, they cut two songs from the movie. Somebody tell these T V channels that this is a 60’s movie not 80’s movie, hence the songs are not surplus and they are the main attraction. I could see the song situation in the scene’s leading up to the song, only to see the scene after the song next. My husband alerted me that they are cutting the songs, as the ‘bhai-bahen’ song Hum behnon ke liye mere bhaiyya was cut.
