‘Maa Baap’ (1960) was produced by Trikambhai Dave under the banner of Ratnadeep Pictures and was directed by V M Vyas. The star cast included Rajendra Kumar and Kamini Kadam in lead roles supported by Pran, Anwar Hussain, Bipin Gupta, Leela Chitnis, M Kumar, Leela Mishra, Kuldeep Kaur, Baby Naaz, Kammo, Keshav Rana, Sunder etc. The film belonged to the genre of family drama. This was the third successive film of Rajendra Kumar pairing with Kamini Kadam who had made her debut in ‘Talaaq’ (1958) in a lead role with Rajendra Kumar. Her next film with Rajendra Kumar was Santaan’ (1959).

We are in the month of November. This month sees a few beautiful ladies, who were crowned Miss India & also, who went on to grace the Silver Screen of Bollywood celebrate their birthdays. I am sure there would have been such beauties gracing other industries of regional cinema too, but my mind is a stuck on the Miss India/s of Hindi Films. ‘Geeta Mera Naam’ was a 1974 movie produced by RK Nayyar. Sadhana was the star and the director of the film. The film also starred Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Helen, Rajendranath, Ramesh Deo, Agha, Birbal, Janakidas, Manmohan, Jr. Mehmood, Keshto Mukherjee, Purnima, Murad, Achala Sachdev, Keshav Rana, Randhir, Birbal, Ram Avtar etc. The film’s music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal. Rajendra Krishan was the lyricist. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle & Mohd Rafi were the playback singers used.

I was on the look out for a song sung by Kishore Kumar before 1970 that is not yet covered in the blog. I came across this lesser heard song, which I think could have been a well-known song. Maybe this movie was not as much successful and its songs were forgotten easily.

Today’s song is from the film Ghungroo-1952. The film was made by Filmkaar Ltd., Bombay. It was directed by Hiren Bose and the music was by C.Ramchandra. The cast of the film consisted of Omprakash, Sumitra Devi, Kuldeep kaur, K.N.Singh, Badri prashad and others.
During the early phase to the Golden era of Hindi film music, the atmosphere in the industry was very cordial. Everyone had the opportunity to grow in his field and there were no ill feelings either on religious basis or success/failure basis. In such a healthy atmosphere, few friendships between actors, directors, MDs and even producers grew deep.
