When one looks at old movies (all over the world, not just India),one finds that the idea of political correctness was not known at that time. Moreover, many of the ideas depicted in old movies would be regarded as highly objectionable today though they were regarded as normal.

I have discussed as many as five songs from “Sainyyan” (1951) and I thought I had discussed them all. But now I find, much to my pleasant surprise, that there are more songs in this movie. In fact, I have covered only half the songs of this movie, as this movie has ten songs in it. Ten Sajjad Hussain compositions in one movi ! It means that the working conditions during the making of this movie met with Sajjad Hussain’s approval and he did not feel the need to walk out of this movie in a huff unlike quite a few other movies of those days. And the songs that he composed are such delightful songs.

In Hindi movies, we have teasing songs that are typically sung by male actors. I just realised that if there is a teaser, then there has to a a teased as well. and there are songs sung by teased as well. the teased lady would typically sing a song with words like “chhodo meri kalaayi”, “koi dekh legaa” etc etc.

If Rekha celebrates her birthday on 10th october then can Amitabh Bachchan be far behind ? He celebrates his birthday the very next day, viz. 11th october. And that gives me an opportunity (rather command from my regular readers) to post Amitabh Bachchan songs on this opportunity.
