I was aware of a movie called “Hanste Zakhm” but not “Hanste Aansoo” . It turns out that this movie called “Hanste Aansoo” (1950) had the “distinction” of becoming the first ever Hindi movie to get an “Adults” certificate for this movie. 🙂

Aa main bataaun tu hai kyaa

“Barsaat Ki Raat” (1964) was a movie that only had qawwalis in it, and the movie, riding on these qawwalis went to to become an all time hit movie. Inspired by the success of this movie, a B grade movie maker tried to emulate the movie by making another movie on the same theme. This movie maker in fact went one step ahead and named his movie “Qawwali ki raat”! What an inspired title ! 🙂

I am aware of a movie called “Shamaa”(1961) that had music by Ghulam Mohammad. Now it turns out that there is another movie by the same name that was released in 1946 and it had music by Ghulam Haider. I other words, both these movies with similar names have music by similarly named music directors as well.

The movie “Barsaat Ki Raat” (1960) was a movie that was a qawwali bonanza as this movie consisted mainly of one awesome qawwali following other. After the huge success of this movie, other movie makers tried to ape its success formula by coming with movies with similar theme. One of these movies was called “Qawwali Ki Raat” (1964) thus leaving no ambiguity about the fact that it was inspired from “Barsaat Ki Raat” (1960).

Meri ho gayi unse baat

By now I have discussed as many as 39 songs composed by Sajjad Hussain for Hindi movies. Considering that he gave music for only about 100 songs, finding the remaining songs is becoming increasingly difficult and so discovery of every additional Sajjad Hussain song from now onwards in a cause to rejoice, because the remaining song are truly difficult to locate.

So far I have discussed 33 such songs which amount to about one third of all the Sajjad Hussain compositions in Hindi movies.
