Though the film was not that much successful as compared to other movies of the Superstar Rajesh Khanna at that time, its songs are still remembered and few of them have become timeless classics viz. ‘o mere dil ke chain’, ‘chalaa jaata hoon kisi dhoon mein’ etc.

In the 1940s, there were four main Hindi/Urdu/Hindusani movie producing centres in India, viz. Bombay (Mumbai), Calcutta (Kolkata), Lahore and Poona (Pune).

Bombay (Mumbai) had Ranjit Movietone, Calcutta (Kolkata), the New Theatres and Poona (Pune) had Prabhat Films as leading producers of Hindi/Urdu films. Lahore centre was dominated by Pancholi Art Pictures owned by Dalsukh Pancholi. He was also the owner of Lahore’s biggest film studio, Pancholi Art Studio during pre-independent period.

GIRLS SCHOOL (1949) was produced under the banner of Lokmanya Productions ( a joint venture of Kavi Pradeep and Amiya Chakraborty). The film was directed by Amiya Chakraborty. Interestingly, one of the assistant directors for him in this film was Guru Dutt. The star cast included Geeta Bali, Sohan, Sajjan, Shashikala, Mangala, Ram Singh, Vimla Vashisht etc. Amiya Chakraborty has been known to produce/direct socially relevant films which he must have got this legacy from his association with Bombay Talkies.
