The lyrics of this song has been provided by Sudhir , a new reader of this blog and a fellow entusiast of Hindi movies and their songs
It is interesting to know how the information that is common knowledge four decades back becomes rare information with passage of time. Today few people know about the existence of this movie and its songs. When I was growing up as a pre teen kid in late 1960s and early 1970s, information about this movie was readily available but I never bothered to look that up. after all I was a pre teen kid, who was only interested in the new songs and new movies, not old ones like this.

From the song, it is often possible to guess the music director. But not always. there have been cases where a song, sounding like O P Nayyar’s song may turn out to be Madan Mohan’s.

“Khoobsoorat” (1952) is one of the obscure movies with Madan Mohan’s music in it. I have little idea about the cast of this movie, but I find that this movie has a song sung by Suraiyya. This tells me that Suraiyya was clearly there in this movie as the leading lady. And this also tells me that Madan Mohan in that case had a few of his songs sung by Suraiyya too.

“Mirza Ghalib” (1954) is a movie based on the life of legendary Urdu Poet Mirza Ghalib. This movie had most of its songs based on Mirza Ghalib’s poems, so in effect, Ghalib himself is the lyricist of most songs of this movie, even though he had dead for some one hundred years by the time this movie was made.
