atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Ik nanhi munni ladki thi

Posted on: June 30, 2009

I have been waxing eloquent about music director Ganesh in this blog. The more I listen to his songs, more is the sense of loss that I feel. If only he got a proper run in Bollywood, we would have had many more great songs to savour.

Anyone remembers a movie called “Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki thi “(1970) ? This was a horror movie produced by Ramsay brothers, who were known for producing horror movies. This movie starred Prithviraj Kapoor, Mumtaz,Helen, Jayant,Laxmichaya etc.

The movie has been forgotten by now. This movie was a flop even when it was released in 1970. But the title song of this movie was quite a popular song in radio Ceylon’s farmaishi programme and also in the preliminary episodes of Binaca geetmala.

Here is this superb song sung by Rafi. Lyrics is written by Asad Bhopali. Ganesh’s music in this song is just wonderful.

Song-Ik nanhi munni ladki thi (Ik Nanhi munni ladki thi) (1970) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Ganesh

Lyrics

Ik nanhi munni ladki thi
Ik nanhi munni ladki thi
wo bilkul tere jaisi thi
uske daddy sabse jyaada pyaar kiya karte the use
apne pyar mein mummy ki mamta bhi diyaa karte the usse
Ik nanhi munni ladki thi

ladki kyaa tasweer thi wo
khwaabon ki taabeer thi wo
ek kali thi jaane chaman
jaane chaman
jaane chaman
jhoomte gaate khelte hanste
umr guzarti jaati thi
subah noor mein halki si
aur shaam bahaarein laati thi
ik nanhi munni ladki thi

waqt achaanak rooth gayaa
nanha saa dil toot gayaa
lag gayi jaane kis ki nazar
kis ki nazar
kis ki nazar
ik din jaisi bebas hokar saare rishte tod gaye
apni pyaari beti ko duniyaa mein akelaa chhod gaye
jab aaya waqt judaayi kaa
dil ro ro ke ye kahtaa thaa
dil ro ro ke ye kahta thaa
kahta thaa

Whoever has told u that Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki Thi was a flop movie.Due to the horror mask worn by Prithviraj Kapoor the movie did good business and from this first horror movie of Ramsay brothers, started their tryst with horror films. Their first release, a historical movie Rustom Sohrab did not do well, but their horror movies were someting to look forward to and did well at the box office, especially Do gaz zameen ke nichey.-Darayus Kavarana
