Akele akele kahaan jaa rahe ho

Posted on: October 16, 2008

Shammi Kapoor, who started his career with a whimper in 1950s, began to create waves in 1960s, beginning with “kashmir Ki kali”, and ever since, all his subsequent movies saw him playing similar roles in movies with similar story lines.

One common thread in all these movies used to be lilting music, typically sung by Rafi with gusto.

This Rafi song is no different. This song from “An Evening in Paris” is a typically Shammi Kapoor movie song, that had the audience eating out of Shammi kapoor’s hands in that decade of 1960. Such songs, incredibly, have not aged at all and continue to enthrall the audiences even today.

Love all the songs where Rafi sahab has sung for Shammi Kapoor. Best part is we can tell while listening to the song that this must be a Shammi Kapoor song. I really enjoy this one.

I wonder how much money and effort is spent for a song like this. I mean the kinds of places they have taken the camera to… it’s beautiful!

Only Shammi Kapoor can do all the craziness like this and still look so adorable.

Indeed, such songs piturised on exotic locations were a big reason for he success of sung movies and songs. for instance, imagine showing Paris, Tokyo etc in his movies, that left eyes of the Indian public popping with amazement. ( there were no TV channels and other media back then).
